He means Thomas Hardy, who is probably most famous for writing Jude the Obscure, which is a really good book worth checking out.
Who is the math Hardy? I'm not familiar at all with math but I'm interested to know.

That is a fun and cool site, Matt. Your posts are always among the most enjoyable on the MLHH, you have such philosophical insights into everything, you have so much literary talent. I still remember the poem you wrote for Ken on his belt length update a month or so back. ("Ken Golden Locks")
