This is me at 15 months - but I have had a couple of trims to keep it in balance - but shock horror - taking these pics I have realised i am going thin on top - I am nearer 60 than 50 so I suppose I should be pleased it lasted this long - but I'm not ready to give up on it. Any recommendations for an older guy ?
This shows the problem
I replied to your first post before you got your second picture up, there is a little thinning, but it is mild, probably slightly milder than mine. As I said in my last post, it can never hurt to see a specialist, please keep us updated on how it goes.
All the best,
David
I wanted to say that White Tail, like David, also makes a good point. The degree of hair-loss that you have experienced is not very significant, therefore, you may want to just let nature take its course. Most cases of severe MPB will show early on in life, usually in the late teens, or early twenties.
The decision to take any medication, for whatever reason, should always be taken seriously. Nevertheless, should you decide to approach the matter from a medicinal perspective, you should know that Propecia does have a very good safety profile. I should also mention that Saw Palmetto may be another option, but there is no scientific evidence that it works to prevent hair-loss, however, it probably does to some extent.

I think the other guys are right. If you feel uncomfortable with that degree of thinning then you should get an opinion from a dermatologist. I also agree with the others in that your hair looks great for +50 and the amount of thinning is fairly small. Hang in there, you have great hair to grow long.

The hair is looking great, healthy, straight, and shiny, with NO gray, lol, that's great hair for a guy nearing 60, hard to believe the colour at that age! I don't see a lot of thinning in your picture, perhaps VERY slight near the crown, but it is so slight in this picture that I can hardly see. Why don't you post more pictures, do you have any recession in the front area? How long would you like to grow it?
I recently discovered in my own case I have some thinning in the crown area, I'm 53. I was prescribed propecia, which can slow down, halt, or even reverse MPB in some cases, it is probably more effective the younger you are, I only hope I am not too late. If you have any concerns, by all means see a doctor (preferably a dermatologist), who can diagnose if you have any thinning and can set a course of action to deal with it, if necessary. Remember, NEVER give up!
Please keep us updated and all the best,
David
DavidN, of course, has good advise, but your hair looks fantastic.
I am 60+ and have considerable thinning on top, but will always have lots of healthy hair on the sides and back. I choose not to attempt to reverse this with medication, while completely enjoying what I do have. Keep in touch and thanks for sharing.

David is right. You need to take some action. Propecia would probably be a very wise choice. I tend to like the Propecia and Rogaine combination. The Minoxidil in Rogaine will stimulate the follicle and hold the hair in the growth phase longer and will push other resting follicles into the growth phase.
Propecia, on the other hand, will inhibit much of the DHT that is primarily responsible for MPB.
Best wishes.
Jeffrey.
