I've finally hit my first big month landmark. And to be honest, I'm quite astounded that I've gotten this far. With all the stuff over my parents wanting me to cut it off, to the constant nagging of my church Sunday School Teachers, I'm surprised I haven't given in. Now, after 6 months, I'm ready to stand firm about my decision. My parents have finally accepted my decision, though I still get negative remarks at church. Anyway, my updates in the classic fashion:
And my previous 2 updates, though I will just link them to save space:

I'm interested in seeing what my hair does in the next few months, up until I hit a year. With these updates, it would be interesting in seeing what you think my hair will do in the next 6th months.
Thats some progress for 6 months... did you start with a buzz or was it longer?
As for church if they do not like you then you should leave the congregation and find another church. Not all churches are the same and some are very elitist/self righteous and those church should be avoided.
Now the one church (that I can find timeslots to go for) that I attend I only go there for the free lunch because their congregation is either in a hurry or difficult to communicate to... plus the pastor talks a LOT. Until I can find a better church that is...
Actually, I dug out what is probably my earliest picture after my last haircut (About 3 weeks). It's blurry, but you get the idea.

Anyway, thanks for the compliments. And yes, I like my church. The people there are nice and friendly, though it's a select few that nag me about it. Nothing I can't deal with, considering I don't like them, anyway.
Looks great Brandon! I think the awkward stage has nothing to do with how you feel about your own hair and has everything to do with having to deal with negitive comments. After your hair gets to a certain length, friends and family realise that there is no changing your mind about this. You have apparently reached that point with your family, the ones that know you the best. The folks at your church will reach that conclusion sooner or later. Hang in there.
Bruce
Thanks Bruce! And yes, I totally agree with the ackward stage comment. Right now, I'm pretty happy with my hair. I wish it was longer, but besides that, I'm really happy with how much progress I've made in such a short time. However, outside of church at school, I'm getting quite a few positive comments from friends and some people I don't even know. It's really encouraging to have the positive things said about your hair, that I take the negative ones like a grain of salt. Anyway, thanks for the encouragements!
Hey I love your hair colour. It's also great you started with longer hair it will take you less time to achieve your goal. Keep growing!
Thanks, man! Yeah, I kind of planned to start growing my hair out after I was forced to get my last haircut, so I just got it shaped up, and didn't get it cut extremely short. And I'm so glad I did. Anyway, thanks for all the positive feedback! You guys are the best! ;)
Wow, that's great progress for 6 months! =D Congratulations, stick to it!!
Thanks. I've always had fast growing hair. When I got haircuts regularly, I would have to go every few weeks after getting it cut fairly short for another haircut. Anyway, thanks again!
The hair is looking awesome, Brandon. Your hair grows FAST, that's incredible progress for only 6 months, it's right up with some guys updates between 9 months to a year!
Keep it growing,
David
Thanks, David! And may I just say your hair (and up and coming beard) are coming along great as well. I'm just hoping that the day comes quickly where I can comfortably tie it back in a ponytail. I play DDR (A dance arcade game), and it's really irratating where my bangs fall and obstruct my vision, not to mention, get stuck inside my nose. :P Anyway, thanks once again!
Thanks, Angel! And yes, somedays it feels like I just want to cut it all off. But then I think about how great having long hair will be, so all the common annoyances of the ackward stage I use as a learning experience. Anyway, thanks alot, and you keep it growing too!
Awesome growth for only 6 months. Very nice texture and wave as well. =)
Thanks, James! And I'm really interested in seeing what my hair will do once I get past the nasty ackward phase. I didn't know I had wavy hair until a few months ago, and I certainly hope I retain it as my hair grows longer. Anyway, thanks for all the positive comments! :)
Wow, those are great bangs! How close are you to being able to put your hair in some kind of tail?
Mouse
Thanks! And I actually don't know how long it will be. I certainly hope it's soon, since loose hair and DDR do not mix very well. I can get all my back hairs, and most of my front ones into a fairly decent high tail. However, my bangs only just reached the length where I can push them behind my ears, though the slightest movement knocks them back into my face. I'm hoping by the summer time, I'll be able to put my hair in a pretty decent ponytail.
Brandon thanks for the update looking great. You can look forward to your next milestone your bangs covering your entire face. Almost being able to put it in a ponytail..
Keep it growing,
LBOF
Ah, it's my loyal fan on MLHH. Always there to remind me when an update is due, and is always there to comment me. :P Anyway, thanks for your constant positive feedback, and I can't wait until I reach that milestone. Ponytails are going to be really helpful for DDR with. Anyway, thanks again!
You have awesome quality hair there, Brandon, --- PERFECT hair for growing loooooooooooong (lol)!!
Your church Sunday School teachers are being very foolish, though... All you have to do is leave that church and go to another that's less judgemental. In fact, most church-going people I know would be THRILLED to see ANY longhair show up, --- especially considering how many young guys your age quit going to church all together!
I used to belong to a local church. Unfortunately, all it takes is a few intrusive "busy-bodies" who think it's their "right' to tell you what to do about every aspect of your personal life and personal decisions. That kind of behavior, more than anything else, turns more people off (and away) from attending or becoming a memewber of houses of worship than anything else. A gentle reminder to them, "judge not, lest ye be judged" might be in order!

Why thank you! I might decide to go a bit longer than my goal length if I think I'll look better with extremely long hair. But I think the longest I'll go is belt length, sadly, if I pass my goal.
Amen to that. My church is full of eldery busy-bodies who think it's their God-given right to inform the youth on the way 'things should be done'. It shouldn't be much longer before I have some of them nagging on me to get a haircut. Though the Youth is pretty cool. However, the older congregation that's been there for eons really irratates me to no end.
Hey Brandon,
Your hair looks fantastic! I'm sure you'll be very glad to not have your long bangs over your face much longer. You'll soon have the option of tying them back which is much more practical. I am acutely aware of societal dogma concerning long hair on men. Ignore it!
Jason
I certaintly hope it will be very soon, because long bangs are really quite irratating when you can't tie them back, or they won't stay behind your ears. It'll probably become a holiday for me when that day comes. ;)
Thanks for the continued positive feedback, and I wish you luck too, as you continue to grow to your goal! :)
Hey Brandon
That is what i call incredible progress. Only 6 months and you have attained the length i have after 13 months of growth. Looks great man. Keep it growing!
Wow. That's a really big compliment, considering I think my hair grows slow. I have the impatient "I want it now" attitude, and it seems like it growing at a snail pace. By the way, did you start from a buzz, or was it quite longer when you started? Anyway, keep it growing! ;)
OK, this is not the beginning of a debate, but only a statement of opinion. If anyone were to tell me about how long hair was wrong at my church, I would have to have on of those ROFLMAO moments. Out of the fourteen stained-glass windows with seven on either side of the church, thirteen of those depict a long-haired Jesus, with a beard too. The other has a picture of Mary.
Further, beware of anyone who may try to use a certain verse from the second book of Corinthians to defeat your long hair hopes and make you feel bad about it. I have read that this verse contextually refers to Paul preaching in the city of Corinth about men who as prostitutes were impersonating women and women who as the same were impersonating men. This has nothing to do with the man who has long hair as a "man." There is also evidence to suggest that Paul himself may have had hair long enough that he would have worn something like a fillet, or band, to hold his hair in place, suggesting that he would not have worn such had he very short hair. Even in Eastern Orthodox Churches, in times past and currently, priest did not and do not cut either their hair or beards. By this very condition being present in any Christian sect, one must begin to wonder about any prohibition on hair being justifiable in any context.
Moreover, any one who chooses to use religion of any sort to hurt or render abuse and use religion as a justification of iniquity of ANY sort is the one who should fall into question as the one who lacks the very basic understanding of his own religion. Thus, the very precepts of what religion is all about have been lost.
Good luck!
Wow! I've heard of this passage after looking through some longhair FAQ's, but now I'm really going to have to look it up and study it. It's always good to have some ammo if someone tries to pull that trick on me. Anyway, thanks for that helpful passage, and I'll be sure to study up on it.
Looking nice Brandon - Keep up the great progress!
- Oren
Thanks, Oreon! Hopefully, the ackward phase will pass fairly quickly for me, and I'll be on my way to reach my goal. Thanks again, and keep up the awesome growth yourself!
Nice progress!:-)
As for those Sunday School teachers, isn't it your job to give them something to whine & complain about? ;-) I'm sure they must really love it when you don't shave for a few weeks too! lol
Haha! Yeah, they actually do. When I came in with my beard after the Christmas Break, they totally freaked out. If I decide to grow it back out, it will be for that reason alone. It's priceless. XD
Anyway, thanks for the compliments!
I'm sure they must really love it when you don't shave for a few weeks too! lol
Great hair, Brandon. The shine and quality of the hair is really nice and will only look better with length.
Takea care!
Shawn
