Five years ago today (February 5, 2002) I had my last haircut.
Since that day I haven't had any haircuts or trims.
My hair is now down to my waist.
Will post pic soon!
Congratulations on reaching waist length, that's my final goal! And thanks again for all the hard work you have done with the gift shop, MUCH appreciated! And I am definitely looking forward to the pictures.

Well, of course where one's waist is varies from person to person, so saying that my hair is at waist level doesn't mean too much.
I suppose it would be more accurate to say my hair has reached
the top of my waist or--more accurately--it has reached my belt
when damp and combed out straight.
The fact is that most longhair have curls and waves so that
when the hair dries it tends to appear a bit shorter.
No one in my family has ever grown their hair as long as mine ha grown
so I have no idea of where it will stop.
All I know is that every few months I notice my hair is definitely getting longer. ..
Congrats !
Waist length in 5 years is excellent growth....we look forward to the photos.

...that a man can grow his hair our for FIVE years WITHOUT getting split ends.
On February 6th 2002 (my last haircut was the day before: Feb. 5th) I wrote in my diary: "I am going to let my hair grow several inches longer."
This was about 4 months BEFORE I discovered the MLHH. I was so green that I actually
believed that by late summer my hair would be quite long!
Then in June of 2002 I found the MLHH which was very helpful to me in dealing
with all the 'problems' that kept cropping up.
Soon afterwards I entered my first awkward stage. I say 'first' because
I know for a fact that there can be several very different awkward stages.
But the first one is probably the worst one: you know, the
head looks
like you really need a haircut bad!
And men use words like "puffy" or "poofy" or "dandelion head" and then when
you look in the mirror you can hear yourself saying things like: "WHY am I doing
this to myself? Do I really need more grief in my life?" Or you wake up
in the middle of the night--a time when the things you do during the dayligh hours
seem so unreal--and you begin to wonder, over and over again, if you are doing the "right thing."
But then something always stops you from cutting your hair. For me it was almost a physical force
or presence that prevented me from ending the mini-nightmare I was going through at the time.
And so the hair grows and grows and you count the hours and the days when you really
should be keeping track of time in months! And if this is the first time you are growing out
your hair, then every inch of growth is considered to be a milestone and you just keep on growing...
But anyway, it's been five years without a trim of any kind nd I have NO split ends--none.
I suppose genetics has something to do with it, but it is also
proof positive that the products I have been using all these years do NO damage!
And what are those products? Well, the members who know me, already know what I am going
to say...but for those who don't here's the list:
(ALL products are from L'Oreal)
*ViVE Smooth Intense Shampoo (for thick hair)
*ViVE Conditioner (for thick hair)
*Studio Line MELTING Gel (yes, by L'Oreal)
*Studio Line Liquid SPRAY Gel (ditto)
My hair is always in a ponytail and I always use cloth covered elastic bands without any metal connectors.
That is really great news Luckskind. So glad you made it to this major milestone. Hey.............isn't it great! :-)

...Justin. You are always offering me words of encouragement and you know what...
...they work!
Thanks

Happy Hair Birthday!! Congratulations!
Bruce
That is such a major accomplishment. 5 years with no trims..simply amazing. I've been growing for about a year and a half myself, and so far I haven't come across any split ends. I hope that continues =)
I look forward to seeing your progress pics. I'm sure they will be very inspiring for those here who may have doubts about growing their hair. Peace be with you =)
Congratulations on growing those few extra inches of hair you decided to grow back in '02! Further, I also thank you for all the artistic designs and creations that you have done for the board. All great.
See you later, Bragi
Congrats Luckskind! But, yeah, we need a pic (or two)! :)
I will try to get some pictures posted soon.
Thank you for all your kind words. I also want to take this opportunity
to let all of you know that the Gift Shoppe will continue to grow
throughout the year.
