...hair is a lot stronger than most people think. Women are
probably more aware of this fact than most men are because
from a very early age they are doing things to and with their hair.
But when men start growing out their hair, it's almost as if
they are noticing their hair for the first time! Before we
started growing out our hair we hardly paid any attention at
all to the kind of shampoos and conditioners we used--but now
we find ourselves reading the labels on hair products carefully,
and we are continuously on the lookout for anything that will tame
a head of hair that seems to be totally out of control.
Over the years I have experimented with just about every
product out there. My conclusion: there is no single product
that will make hair look good. In fact, it usually takes a
combination of products to make our hair look good.
Many guys want to keep things as simple as possible--and so
the very thought of adding 'junk' to their hair is something
most men don't even want to think about.
Unfortunately, if your hair is out of control or if you just plain
hate the way it looks, sooner or later you are going to end up
in the hair department of a store looking through an astounding
assortment of products that all claim to make your hair "look good."
But before you start searching it might be a good idea to know
what gives hair that smooth, silky and manageable look.
Beautiful, healthy, silky smooth hair looks that way because
most of the hairs a lying close to each other AND they are
going (for the most part) in the SAME direction.
Even a nice-looking curl is actually a group of individual hairs
that are closely following each other. You can understand this
concept better if you look at messy hair where you can see that
most of the individual hairs are all going out from the head in
many different directions.
(Are there some guys out there who are lucky enough to be
able to just shampoo and comb their hair and then when it dries
it looks great? Sure, but MOST men are NOT that lucky.)
Now that you understand WHAT makes hair look "good" you
can take the necessary steps to duplicate smooth, healthy-looking hair.
You can begin the process by washing your hair. Then when you look in
the mirror you might think to yourself: "Hmmmmm, wouldn't it be great
if my hair looked like this all day long?! But unfortunately as soon as the
hair dries out it starts frizzing up and puffing out and looking just awful
and messy again.
So basically what you need to do is find a product or products that will
take the place of water once your hair has completely dried.
One of the best ways to do this is by trying out various hair dressings
and high-quality gels, and then applying them to your still-damp hair
until you find just the right products that are perfect for you.
Good luck!
Seems like good advice!
Well then what kind of products do you reccomend? My hair is as curly as it gets for a white dude, its naturally a fro, but its relaxed and i use pretty good stuff so it looks decent, but it could be nicer, id dig something that gave it that semi-wet frizz free look. Any suggestions?

L'Oreal Melting Gel? Just look for Studio Line: Melting Gel.
For more control try L'Oreal LIQUID SPRAY Gel.
You will need to experiment. Add some Melting Gel to your damp hair, then comb and style it.
IMPORTANT: Once it dries leave your hair alone! Every time you touch it
it will get messier.
The goal is to replace WATER with just enough Gel to make it look great.
Of alll the gels I have tried, Melting Gel is the best--but you have to experiment.
Good Luck!
190 megapascals. That is about 1/3 as strong as nylon of the same cross section.
Absalom
That should read about 1/5 as strong as nylon of similar cross section. Nylon has a tensile strength of up to 1 gigapascal.
Hair is the strongest substance in the human body, based on cross sectional area, even stronger than bone.
Absalom
What is that in psi?
About 27 557 (google "190 MPa to psi")
that sounds pretty strong to me...I wonder if hair strands would make decent guitar strings? :P
Strange no one has thought of THAT one before. Wonder what a guitar made with human hair would sound like?
If its electric guitar it would not make any sound because electric pickups requires a steel magnetic string to pick up the vibration.
mhhh i dont think , i used nylon string on an ellectric one time , and it worked prety well
My hair Journal
what kind of pickup did you use? I know that nylon string only works with transducer so unless you have one of those LR Baggs transducer pickups... normally magnetic pickup requires nickel steel strings to make a sound.
i used a no-name pickup i had on an old cheap guitar.
i'm affraid but it sound like your wrong Tai Fu or maybe i'm..

I imagine it would be so faint as to be inaudible....a bow (for use on violins, etc.) though could be made with it. Currently, horse hair is used.

Hello ,
when i see myself in the mirror with wet hair , i see how i really would like my hair to look like. so if i use some gel i would get my hair looking like i want but the is a problem, i love my hair texture. when i touch my hair, it is so smooth. if i put gel i will get glued hair so it wont be smooth anymore :/

Yep.
