I sold out and cut my hair. But I have my reasons.
1: I wasn't happy at the legnth of the back and sides at all. I ruined it last year with trims and cuts to make it even and shit, which is a big no-no.
2: I fucked it up with hair dye last year. Around April time, I dyed it black, and later in the year I tried to get it out, and it never returned back to the natural colour. It is now the natural colour, which will be good.
3: The trims made my hair look short than the top and front was, which was annoying.
I have a friend who last cut his hair around the same time I did in late 2005. He let his grow without trims, and his hair looks longer and cooler than mine did, so I'm going to do that. Grow it without trims. I feel it's at a good starting point right now, and it should take less than what it did last time, as I'm not starting from a number 2 buzz cut. So that should cut a couple of months out of the waiting time.
Look at the plus side:
1: It will be the natural colour.
2: I can create a sight with progress pics monthly, that should be fun, and helpful to others who want to grow their hair out.
So yeah, I'm really sorry, I kinda regret doing it, but it almost had to be done.

PS: Please understand, and please don't hate me for this.
It's a shame, but sometimes you've gotta do what you've gotta do. Best of luck to you and maybe you'll consider growing it out again sometime down the road. =)
-James
Well, what I plan to do, is grow it for a few months in a messy style, maybe even slick it back and dry it, Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield have been know to do it, and Jame's hair looked awesome in 2003/2004. If I like it, I will continue growing it out, if not, I may cut it a little bit shorter again. Who knows.
I'm not gonna focus on the length of my hair as much as I did last year, it was all I seemed to think about, so if I just leave it, and if it looks cool, I will keep it.

That sucks man your hair looked really cool, and the hair would have evened itself out as it grew longer. I liked that reddish/brownish color, but it was your choice and at least youre growing it back again. Best of luck!
-Mihnea
Hey man as long as youre happy with your new style its alright and theres no need to be sorry.
Hi Chris,
It's too bad you cut it, I thought your hair looked great. However, you really have to do what YOU want to do. I AM happy that you are planning to grow it again, and especially happy that you plan to have a progress site. Be sure to stick around and keep us updated how the new hair journey goes.
All the best,
David
Thanks for understanding guys.
I just went over my hair with the clippers again. It was uneven, with short bits and longer bits, now it's all even, and ready to move on with whatever I decided to do with it.
I MAY stay shorter, but longer than it currently is. I liked my hair when it was about this length:

It was easy to handle, and looked pretty cool.
Another reason is that I am quite busy, and I didn't have much time to look after it properly.
I cycle to college everyday, which is uphill mainly, so when I get to school, I sweat as I work out as I cycle, and by the time I get there, my hair has become greasy, dirty and curling outwards at the back.
Short hair is easiere to manage for me, as I can literally step out the shower, dry myself, get dress, and I'm ready to go without waiting hours for my hair to dry.

lol
I use myspace to so does quite a few of others to :-)
I actually really liked your hair in that first picture you posted after your cut-The one where it is longer on top and v. short on the sides. I've always liked that short hair style and thought that it really suits you.
Regardless of what you do though, you will have our support.
Just say no to scissors!!! Seriously, I understand why you did it, and if you're cool with it, then why shouldn't anyone else be???
Please stick around here and keep it growing just as you said, without trims and without dyes. In no time, your hair will be just as cool as the friend's you talked about. Don't feel bad aboot your decision, but DO learn from it! The true test is learning something, then being able to apply that later.
Hell, dude, it's just a haircut, why would I (we) hate you?!?!?
Well, i know exactly how you're feeling, i've also messed up my hair quite alot with hair dyes, styling products and such and had to cut off about 2.75 inches of my hair, but right now i'm trying to get back my natural haircolor wich is ashblonde, i've coloured it dark brown alot of times but now i've stopped with that.
Many times i've thought about cutting it short but i will at least try to get it better this time around without using any hairdye or something that could harm my hair.
And if i don't like it in the long run, i'll cut it short again.
After all, the only thing that matters is that you're happy with your own choice.
Simon
Another one bits the dust.
Well it's you hair and you have to do what you think is best.
PI.
Hey Chris,
I think I know what you mean about your hair and the way it behaves sometimes. Although I never dyed mine, I have been known to get so sick of the different lengths and just get it cut to about mid ear length and start over.
There will be lots of opportunities to try again.
Later,
Chris K
Well... everyone does mistakes in their lives don't they?? And if you're going to regrow it now you won't make those mistakes again =) So don't be that hard on yourself, you'll more likely be where you were in 5 to 6 months so this time around, stick to healthy and natural hair =)
I would really suggest you to regrow it anyways, I think you look much better with it longer =) Courage my friend, we're with you! =) =) =)
awww man...that's a bummer!!I wish you had dropped a line before actually going through with it...there are ways to get your natural color back WITHOUT resorting to cutting it.WEll,at least you are growing it out again, right?this time,do little more than washing it,don't color it,don't perm it,don't straighten it,and you should be fine...
all the best

The #1 'rule' for hair is that it must make you happy. If you feel that you need to start over again then just do it.
And for those of you who are not happy with long hair, my advice is to cut it.
Why make yourself miserable? Long hair is supposed to 'feel right' and to make you happy. And if it doesn't then WHY would you
want to keep on growing it?
If you aren't true to yourself you won't be happy.
Don't get angry at yourself man , After all , It is hair and can grow again. You made the decision of cutting it because YOU were not happy with your hair. That is the right choice. You must always do what feels right for YOU and what satisfies YOU. In no way did you let us down or back out. So , Cheer up !
P.S Whatever your future/current plans are regarding your hair , You can bank on us to provide support and ride the storm with you!
Wishing You The Best,
christopher
Many of us have made the same mistake.

No need for apologies. As long as you are happy and don´t do something crazy without thinking it through. You seem to have thought this through well, and have some good arguments.
So good luck with your growing! :)

Have you ever heard the saying if at first you dont succeed try try try again I have lol so come on chin up as that is you down to a tee which brings me to your other question of please dont hate me why on earth should we hate you as you had to do what you had to do like you say long hair is best with your own colour you remind me of a young guy that use to post here called EX blonde he did the same thing as you awhile back, no idea what happened to him as he no longer comes here now which is ashame for you !
So take a deep breath and dry your tears now because whats done is done and it will grow back eventually
Axel
It looks good on you short anyway. I think it's best to do what's comfortable. I never really put much effort into my hair compared to most people I know or most people on this board. I mean it's a good thing to consider but like you said there's no need for it to become all you think about or something. Anyway, I'm glad you're doing what you want to and not being pressured by other people into what they want.
Alright mate,
You certainly arent gonna be hated on this board just cause you cut your hair. You thought the situatuion over properly and you have probably made the right choice. You have nice fresh hair now and a clean slate to work on. Now all that you have to do is let your hair grow as far as you want it to : )
