Don't worry, I didn't cut it or anything. However, I DID switch to a centre part, I actually made the change after my late day shower yesterday. I have to say I am liking the change, for some reason, especially with the beard, the side part looked "wrong", the middle part seems to look more symetrical and the hairline (which I feared might look bad with a centre part) does not look bad at all. Thanks to all, especially Jason, who suggested that a centre part would look better, I think I will stick with it. As I'm not feeling totally up to par right now, any pictures will have to wait until early next week.
Ironically, this will mean ANOTHER avatar change, and my new one just came online! (many thanks, Oren, for your patience!)

Cool. I never had my hair in any other style than a central part. Probably because it was easiest and I'm really lazy when it comes to my hair.
Thumbs up!
I'm looking forward to seeing an updated picture when you feel up to it.
Jason
Thanks Jason, it IS looking good, the front hair is not as thick and luxurious as yours (there are a few wispy hairs in the part area and it is slightly thinner where the temple area is covered, but looking at it from the front, one would think there is almost NO recession of the hairline!) Part of the reason I didn't post was because I had a bit of a boil on my face, possibly from an infection, I plan to post the picture next week or as soon as this infection clears up. Many thanks for all your advice!
David
Center part is definitely the way to go. It's certainly the easiest to maintain and even if your hair isn't quite symmetrical, it still usually looks good. Looking forward to the updated pic! =)

keep in mind the 2 week rule!!!if,after 2 weeks, you still wanna change your avatar, then change it!! :P lol...(I'm just kidding!!)
can't wait to see the new and improved center part :P
hey Dave,a strange thing just happened to me as well...
I'm at a computer at work, and when I opened up your thread to read it,the old avatar appeared!!:P.All it took to remove it though was one click on the "refresh" button..:P
Thar happened to me on my work computer the other day! The only fix was to hold down the control key while doing a refresh, a regular refresh as well as a refresh while holding down shift did nor work.
Hi David. I've toyed with that idea myself, but I have taken the leap yet. I look forward to the pictures.
Take care,
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
What I am happy with is the fact that the slight recession I have in the temple area is covered much better with the centre part, in fact, if you looked at it straight on from the front, one would think there is no recession at all. Ony if looking at the side, can one see that the hair is thinner where it covers the temples.
Why not give it a try as an "experiment"? You could even post and solicit opinions as I did a couple of weeks ago. The effort I posted then was a rather poor attempt, but even with that, most guys preferred the centre part. Again, it depends on what kind of recession you have (if it is only slight at the temple area, as in mine, it would work best.)
All the best,
David
especially with the beard, the side part looked wrong." ~David
Yes, looking at your picture (speaking as an artist) I think your face
would probably benefit from having your hair parted in the center--especially
with a beard.
And a new avatar is probably in order.
A center part is what gravity naturally tends to produce. It's a universal style for hair beyond a certain length.

The side part looks good IMO but i think a center part would look better. Can't wait to see your "Center part update pic"!!!.
Take care David!

Hi David,
The switch in style sounds great! Even if we look good some people (including myself) like to experiment to "revitalise" our looks. I often flip between side and centre partings - I can never decide what looks good : S Its good you have found a new look that you like. I look foward to seeing some pics.
