So yeah...I've been growing out my hair for 18 months now...and I gotta say I'm liking it more and more lol!!!Even though I can't see a noticable difference in length, small "inconveniences" are occuring, which are letting me know that my hair is indeed growing.it's things like:having to bend forward in the shower to wash my back,my hair getting trapped under my book bag strap, having to pull my hair over my collar when putting on a jacket, etc.
I gotta say though,it's pretty AWESOME sharing the journey with you guys, all the people here involved with the hyperboard are pretty superb...alright,enough with the talk,on to the pics :))
someone requested a bedhead photo of me...can't say I didn't warn him lol!!(I look like a junkie :P )
stay metal!!! \m/!!
I like the natural layers...is there a way to keep these without having to go to terminal? :P
comments, negative and postive are welcome :P
Looking good, Your hair seems to behave the same as mine, with some waviness. Keep up the good work!
man,I just took a look at your photos...in some of your photos your hair looks EXACTLY like mine lol!!well, thanks man!!take care..
Man , Awesome hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your hair seems to grow quite fast , Jacob.
That is superb progress for 18 months. That bedhead pic was quite scary man..lol.. So , yea man the hairs looking shiny and healthy! Thanks for sharing the beadhead/progress pics!
Have a good one!
Oh! Metal for life!!!! \m/
ha ha...later!!!!
lol..yeah..I agree!!that bedhead pic IS quite scary...that just goes to show you I'm not a morning person lol!!
thanks for the compliments man...can't wait for your next update!! :)
Paul
thanks man!! :))
Hi there Jacob,
That is one OUTSTANDING update, I've certainly been looking forward to this one! That is one THICK mane you have there, I can only imagine how awesome it will look when it gets to mid back, amd hopefully belt length. (what is your goal?) I REALLY like the back picture, hair looks really healthy and again, so awesomely THICK with lots of shine, even looks BLOND there! (is that the lighting?)
And you kept your promise to post your bedhead photo, I salute you! (What DID you have the night before, lol!) (That "someone who asked" was me, lol!)
I really appreciate the constant support you have shown me in my journey as well, a tip of the hat to you.
Keep it growing forever,
David
haha,it DOES look blonde in that back pic, doesn't it?well..that's because of the lighting!!my hair is actually brown..
you know,my original goal was mid-back,but now I'm thinking about shooting for waist length, after looking at so many inspirational photos of men and women with waist-long hair :)I guess I'll decide when I get to midback :)
Thanks for the compliments David,(do you prefer Dave or David? :P),I'm looking forward to your new center part pics!:)
take care..:))
Hi again Jacob,
It's great to hear you may consider shooting for waist length, hair like yours with that thickness at waist length would rank with some of the best hair on the entire MLHH.
As for whether I prefer Dave or David, I don't mind either way, in some ways I actually prefer Dave, it seems less formal. Most of my best buddies as well as co-workers call me Dave, even though I also have some good friends that call me David. I tend to sign things and have been using David on my posts, even if I have shown a slight preference to Dave.
Keep it growing,
David (Dave!)
Hi Jacob,
Well, I think your hair is just coming along smartly, looking super cool and metal-esque. I don't know about keeping the naturally layered look. I like that too, but with curly-wavy hair, I think it is easier to do. I imagine if you just didn't trim it for another year or so, the layers would still be there. Even if you decide on a length to stay at later on, I think a very highly competent stylist could replicate the slight look of some layers by separating sections, top and bottom, and trimming each separately.
Now this, I have to say that I am envious a tad-little-bit of your hair; you have the hair I used to have with all the super-thickness everywhere! It's the hair I would have had had I grown it long 10 years ago. Well, enough of that, I'm glad you enjoy what you have accomplished. And, those little things you describe do indeed reinforce that your hair is indeed getting longer - when you have to pull it out of a t-shirt when you put that on, etc.
Good luck with all that math! That's the subject that nearly did me in! My Achilles heel!
See you later, Bragi
I remember once you said that you were shaking your fist jestingly when I posted a beard picture because you thought you couldn't grow a good one.
Well, by the indication of your early morning picture, unshaven as you were, I think that you have plenty of beard-potential there right under your nose, literally. You ought to try it for a month and just see what happens. You might be pleasantly surprised, if not, you know what to do to fix it; the solution is easy. Q.E.D. -(I do remember this from math)
lol...I'm surprised a non-math major remembers about the Q.E.D...it's a latin abbreviation if I'm not mistaken..what does it stand for?
mathematicians put the Q.E.D. at the end of proofs of theorems..but it's not very commonly used.most mathematicians put a square at the end of proofs!!
as for the beard..I don't know..what you saw in the morning pic was about a weeks worth of growth..my facial hair grows really slowly, and it's thin.No such thing as a "5 o-clock shadow" for me,lol (well,my beard isn't black anyway,so..).Another funny thing about my beard is that the left side is red hairs and the right is black/blondish hairs..so it's really uneven :((.The only thing that I can grow that has a decent density is my goatee,so I'll give that a shot...
Q.E.D. means "quod erat demonstrandum" - "that which had to be proven/shown/demonstrated." Your math teachers would be impressed!
Bragi is correct when he says "Even if you decide on a length to stay at later on, I think a very highly competent stylist could replicate the slight look of some layers by separating sections, top and bottom, and trimming each separately."
you think you can do the job Bruce, when the time comes??unfortunately,I live nowhere near the east coast :((
thanks for the compliments,Matt...I think thick hair is something to be cherished...and looks great when LONG!!I certainly love the thickness of my hair hehe..I wish it were a bit thicker but I'm happy with what I got :))
and why didn't you grow it out 10 years ago?did it thin significantly since then?can't wait for your next update..keep on growing those awesome ringlets of yours :))
And good luck with your English studies :))
I did grow it when I was about 21 or so, but then cut it and kept it short until about 4 years ago when I started attempting to grow it longer again. I never made the leap of thought that made me see it as a good thing to have long hair back then, and the resolve to stick with it was not there. I didn't know about the hyperboard back then.
My hair started receding when I was about 21 and then thinning about 5-6 years ago (just on top). The back and sides are still super-thick. I can hardly imagine the volume I would have had I hair as thick all on top as I do everywhere else. I may do an update this month, or just wait till March to reveal the huge beard I am attaining.
Thanks for the luck. I would like to say I didn't need it, but, sometimes, I do ;-)
See you later, Matt
Very, very nice indeed, you have a great thick head of hair, congratulations on the 18 month mark.
With best regards, and keep rockin'.
Thanks Dave!!!and you keep on growing that awesome wild hair of yours too! :))
That first pic is just downright hilarious! I'm guessing you're not a morning person? lol... The hair's looking quite good and I really like the natural wave in it. Keep it growin, CA! =)
-James
Thanks for the compliments James!! (my middle name is James lol!)
nope...I'm not a morning person at all..I'm a night owl. What you just saw were the combined effects of sleep and Caffeine withdrawals...hence the "junkie" look lol...it took a lot of courage to post that pic..hope you had a good laugh!!
good luck on your studies man..you are taking 18-credit hours right?man that's a lot..
Yep, 18 hours. I'm surviving though. I hear ya on the caffeine withdrawals. I completely cut it out at Christmas, but I must say that never felt better. =) Thanks, and good luck with your studies as well.
I know it's harder to notice differences in length when you're looking at your own hair everyday but let me tell you, I definitely notice a significant increase!
Your thick curls look amazing.
I like your metal attitude. :)
What are your favorite bands?
Thanks for the compliments Jason, coming from a hair inspiration such as yourself, it means a lot...:))
I guess you're right, since I'm with my hair 24/7, it's hard to notice an increase in length...although I must admit,in the previous update I had let my hair airdry with leave-in conditioner, and it sort of curled up.This time,I blowdried it...and my hair looks a tad bit longer and straighter when blowdried..so I sorta "cheated" lol.
I took a look at some of your links in the links section..and I came across a website of long-haired women.man,I gotta tell ya...thanks for the eye candy lol!!those women look AMAZING :))
some of the bands I like: In flames,Soilwork,Rammstein,SOAD,Opeth,Metallica,Slayer,Hypocrisy,Iron Maiden,Kreator..and the list goes on...how about you? :))
Yeah, those women look amazing indeed!
I love In Flames especially their older stuff. My favorite metal band has to be Amon Amarth - they totally kick butt. I also love anything Metallica before the execrable St. Anger, selected Slayer, Death, Insomnium....and others..
18 months have done wonders. Applause!
Thanks Justin!!
Very nice progress, Cerebral. Keep on doing whatever you're doing to keep your hair looking so nice...
and keep it metal!! \m/ (x_x) \m/
Thanks man..and you keep growing those awesome curls as well!!oh, and SOAD rules!! \m/!!
Lol, we have the same camera! Well, you and my dad do haha. Awesome hair!!! It suits you really well, keep growing it for al ong long time!!! And the bedhead picture was pretty funny haha.
Stay metal,
Mihnea
yeah,it took me a lot of courage to post that pic lol!!I'm planning keeping it growing for a looong time...stay metal!! \m/!!
Looks good, man. Soon you'll have more inconveniences as it keeps getting longer, but I'm sure you won't won't mind.
haha, that's why I put "inconveniences" in quotation marks :P.thanks fellow wrestling freak!! :))
You have really beautiful hair. The waves and thickness are awesome.
Thanks for sharing your journey, and watch out for hair-eating backpacks!
Mouse
haha!!yeah...I'll definitely watch out for those hair eating bags!!they don't have hair of their own,and are jealous of mine so they wanna rip it off :((
thanks so much for the compliments..and I'm very glad you are sharing your journey to longhairedom with us :))
Hi Jacob,
Your hair is really cool. I can see your hair grows quite quick - your hair's quite long for only 18 months in. Its great to hear that your enjoying your hair too : ) Well done! I'm sure I don't have to tell you, but anyways...
Keep it growing!
Neil
thanks so much Neil, for the compliments.you really think it's fast growing?I thought my hair was slow growing. Can't wait for your next update, your hair is AMAZING! :))
Looking pretty sweet (nWo reference :) and before you know it you'll be approaching 1997-HHH levels!
awww, man!!! I wish I was watching wrestling during that period!! :((
I might go beyond 1997-HHH length lol!!and the funny thing is...when I started my journey,I thought HHH's current length was LONG...now I see it as about medium length lol..I guess my scale is changing!!
thanks so much Dean!!
Your hair is looking great. I agree with you in that the inconveniencies that may drive some people to cut their hair are to me the little things that remind that my hair is finally getting some decent length. My favarite: eating pizza and having to control my hair from getting in my mouth.
Thanks for sharing,
Bruce
haha..I have the same trouble when eating pizza lol..I forgot all about that one!!Thanks Bruce..
Looks great Jacob, you should try for a stash and beard. (or goatee) :)
oh yeah!!I WILL shoot for a goatee,I don't know about a stache though..keep the post comin, most of em crack me up lol!and keep the hair growin Chris :))
thanks Walter! :))
Your hair is superb, Jacob. You have a great mane, and it will only improve with added length. The lovely natural layers are part of the growing out process, and will be a difficult look to maintain. A top notch hair stylist could probably do this. For now, it would probably be best to let it grow another 6 inches or so.
Absalom
thanks Scott!!
oh yeah,I'm definitely gonna let it grow at least 6 more inches..I'm having thoughts of waist length!!
I've been growing my hair for about 18 months as well, and it's pretty much the same length. I have to deal with my hair wanting to get tucked under the backpack and such as well, lol. :P
