So i have not cut my hair since 23rd of september last year when i wet-shaved it totally bald. I'm coping pretty well with the bad hair stage by not caring at all what it looks like one bit. I am following the guidelines on Greg L's website as regards washing everyday and conditioning, but i have also been using a little brylcreem once or twice a week to add that bit extra to the routine whist making my hair look like a birds nest all day! i am receding a bit but not too much and have no bald patch at all so against everyone's advice including my wife's i am growing it long. just trying to be patient while it grows but don't worry i will not cut or trim my hair till it's as long as it will go (unless it is of benefit to the growing procedure of course). I will post pics when there are obvious changes but my avatar is pretty much what it looks like for now.
cheers
Andy
Great to hear your hair is growing just fine!
Thank god you have managed to stay away from scissors. If you continue to do so , In two more years you will have an awesome mane! Hang in there and keep it growing!
Good luck pal
Chris
Awesome, it's good that you're dealing with the awkward stage well, it'll make it go by fast! Keep it growing, and you'll have awesome long hair before you know it!

For the record, here is a pic of the last time i cut my hair. Being away from home i had to borrow my friend's beard trimmer then he gave me a sh*#ty disposable razor to use (BTW i would normally use girls venus razors, they rock and i have never cut myself with one of them). As you can see i hit a coupla bumps in my scalp and claret spewed forth - nice! So that was 20 weeks ago and much as i like the simplicity and cheapness of the baldy head i have always wanted to have long hair. And until now (aged 34) i probably would have felt too self-conscious to get through the bad hair phase. It's really all about not giving a f*#k what people think or say (which is a lot, all the time).
Roll on 40 weeks!
Man... you look like you cut your head off or something. I heard there is this razor that looks like a comb which is designed for shaving heads. Of course you'd come back with toilet papers all over your head like a turban cause you're bleeding from all that bumps... Saw someone who just shaved his head thought he got hit by a beer bottle or something.
Well normally i would use the girly venus razors and be left with a smooth shiny cut-free head but it was a wilkinson sword single blade disposable. It took about 20 minutes too whereas usually i would be done in less than five. All irrelevant now cos i will hopefully have long hair relatively soon and i will only use a razor (yes, venus again) on my face.
;-)
I'm sorry to hear your wife is not behind you on this :( but it's great to hear such a positive and determined stance on growing your hair. Hopefully she will change her mind as it gets longer and be proud to have a long-haired man on her arm. BTW I think that hairline looks particularly good with long hair - widow's peaks are a good look and seem to help with keeping it out of your face when wearing it down. (Maybe I'm biased though - my husband has a similar hairline to yours.)
Please don't be tempted into "trims" - your wife may try to convince you it's a good idea, but unless there is an extreme need for it (and by that I don't mean a few split ends) it will only prolong the process and the sooner you get to terminal the better so you can then sit back and take stock before deciding on your preferred length and styles. Good luck with it - from the sounds of it you will have great hair.
