Well, I was going to wait until next month to post an update, but since I was continually brushing hair out of my face in kung fu tonight, I figured I'd made some progress. Here's one from the front.
Mouse
One from the back. It boggles my mind how my mother can think I need to get it trimmed.
And I finally have longer hair than my cat. He's still got me beat "paws-down" when it comes to softness and thickness, but he's got a much shorter terminal length. ;-)
Cat and Mouse
This is a great picture! I'm sure you've said it several times before, but I've never seen an answer - how long are you planning on growing it? I think the colour, texture, and thickness are all admirable and will make it a very impressive sight further down the road.
Good luck!
Thanks, Gylfi. I'm not really sure how long I want to grow it. My first real goal is to get it all into a ponytail, but beyond that, I'll just have to play it by ear and see what I like.
well,Mouse, your hair has improved vastly from your avatar..when was the avatar taken?(forgive me if you've mentioned it in a post).I'm sure the cat is getting jealous!!hmm..you seem to be a redhead, that's good!!(or is that the lighting?)take care!!:)
The avatar picture was taken in mid December, so about two months ago. I'll probably update it later in the spring.
My hair's actually reddish-brown, so depending on the lighting it can look anything from dark brown to noticably red. It's one of the reasons that probably won't try to chance the color. I like how it looks, and you can never get the same natural highlights from a bottle or salon.
Thanks for the comments!
Mouse
Hey! I seen a photo you posted several months before, and your pretty cool with longhair! you're happy on the photo with your cat who is very nice too (i love cats of course)
Thanks, Fellow...or your brother. I'm not sure which. ;-)
I wish I had a cat that lets me do that. I had a cat that I could not hold for more than 5 seconds because after that they have claws...
You didn't get to see the half-a-dozen pictures I had to take to get this one...
Actually, he's pretty easy-going since I got him as a kitten, even though he has a full set of claws. It's the teeth I usually have to worry about. ;-)
Mouse
Man cats are cute when tame but they are like lions or tigers when angry... I heard some very loud roar like noise one time at night and I turn to look and see some objects shaking from some catfights, and 2 cats ran out.
Great picture of the two of you and it shows you both off splendidly. I love the color your hair has and the texture,
Keep it growing!
Thanks, Chris. It took a half-a-dozen tries to get a shot worth posting!
Hello Mouse, you are making some really good progress and your hair is looking great! Keep it growing and have fun!
-Mihnea
PS Your cat is cute.
Thanks, Mihnea. Maybe I'll end up with lovely waves like yourself in another year.
Mouse
It looks great , Mouse. Your hair seems to be making great progress. I love the texture and waviness it has! I can only imagine how wavy hair like that would look at waist length. We seem to have a similar hair type but i think mine is a bit wavier and curlier. Yours seems a bit tamer. Well , Great update and nice cat!
~chris
Thanks Chris. It's not always real tame, but for the most part I can keep it looking pretty good for work (though I have started to carry a comb with me). You definitely have more waves than I do (which is cool). Its funny how you think your hair is going to do one thing and then as it grows out it starts to do another, in my case getting a little bit straighter. An adventure every month!
Mouse
It is coming in nicely, Mouse. (I like the whole cat and mouse game you're playing, btw.)
My, when that hair is in long locks it will look as though it should always have been there. The colour is just phenominal and the shine is blinding. I am really glad you are sharing this journey with us.

I couldn't resist. ;-)
Thanks, Shawn. I've already had a few new aquantances stare in disbelief when I told them how short it used to be. I'm glad I have pictues to prove it!
Mouse
You can definately see the length appearing especially in the fringe/bangs. It looks nice and thick and strong in colour so its going to be great long!
Great to have you here Mouse, keep growing.
P.s. that is one big cat!!
LOL! He's actually not that big, only nine pounds (4 kg). He's just very fluffy in general, and this time of year he has a thicker winter coat.
Thanks for the comments, Dave, and I'm really happy to be welcome here.
Keep it growin! When's your next update, wild guy?
Mouse
Not sure when my next update will be (probably in the summer), i am not going to do so many as now its longer the changes don't really show up, but I really enjoy watching everyone elses progress.
Regards, Dave
Hi there, Mouse, I have to say your hair is looking better with every update. It is so full of life and shine (the back picture really shows this), and I love the colour. Your hair is growing FAST, I am really looking forward to seeing those waves cascading down your back.
All the best,
David
Thanks David! It's not really growing THAT fast (just the usual 1/2 per month). I'm just short, so a little goes a long way. :-)
Congrats on all of your recent updates and accomplishments. I'm been toying with a center part myself, and the hair seems to be settling into that naturally once in a while. Not enough for it to look good if I TRY to make it do that, but it's another sign of progress.
Mouse
I'm loving the gorgeous thick texture combined with the rich color. I predict you'll have ringlets cascading down your back. An exciting journey awaits you! Thanks for joining us here.
Thank you ! I'm not sure for the ringlets because when my hair was long i did not have any. But it will be cool to have it now.
Huh, my brother used the PC when i was replying... grrr
If you have a brother, PROTECT YOUR PC ! :-P
Sorry
Thanks, Jason. I never thought growing hair out would be exciting, but I'm really enjoying the little milestones. Thanks for the hairclip inspiration too. While I can't really make a sizable tail, it's fun to try and the clips make it easy to do so without damaging my hair.
Mouse
Hey, your hair is making some great progress there, Mouse! It's definitely fun to experience all those little milestones along the way, even if they can be somewhat annoying at times. Well, keep it growing and you will have absolutely gorgeous golden locks in no time. =)
-James
Thanks! In no time??? It's so long !!! :-D
I know what i want but it is so boring to wait ! lol
The most important thing is to be careful and have the courage to wait enough.
Peace, Fellow
Yeah, last night I was thinking "Cool!" and "Dang it!" all at the same time. :-)
Thanks, James. Your's just keeps looking better and better as well.
Mouse
Hi! You've got very nice hair, healthy & shiny, it'll look great when longer:)
Also is this the first time you're growing your hair longer or?
Thanks! Technically I had long hair when I was really young (four or five years old), but I've had it short since entering school. It wasn't as short then as it was when I last cut it (can't imagine many parents wanting their 8-year-old daughter to have a buzz-cut), but I still feel like I'm in totally new territory each month. It's an adventure!
=)
Thanks, Joao. You've got a great mane yourself.
Mouse
Just as long hair can make a fellow even more appealing and masculine, so long hair is accentuating and bringing out your femininity and allure to an even greater degree! I am so glad you have joined the quest with us guys. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! The best part is that growing my hair out is really no work at all (aside from learning to care for it differently). This is far easier than cleaning up the bathroom floor every six weeks after I've buzzed it.
Mouse
Sounds like you've reached a milestone Mouse - Looking really nice!
- Oren
Thanks, Oren! Milestones seem to come out of nowhere sometimes, but I'm not arguing. :-)
Mouse
I love your hair color! The little reminders that your hair is longer are great. Sometimes it seems like it happens overnight. Looking forward to your ponytail update. It won't take long now!
Keep on growin'
Bruce
And I'm looking forward to being able to put it in a ponytail. Seems ironic that one milestone is HAVING hair in your face...and another is NOT having hair in your face. :-)
Thanks for the kind words, Bruce!
Mouse
Hey
Mouse
Its really great to see the opposite sex post here I WISH THEY WHERE MORE THAT DID & to see them grow there hair long for the first time is very rare indeed Im very glad you posted your picture its comming on nicely to !
Axel
Thanks, Axel. I'm enjoying the board a lot, and it's really given me a greater appreciation for long hair in general, and especially long hair on men. A couple months ago I saw a guy with beautiful, tight curls to his shoulders, and I felt a deep respect for how much patience that took to grow. I'm also noticing more guys with that sort of "in-between hair," the kind of look that says, "I'm trying to grow it out."
