Well, 18 months isn't officially until Tuesday, but it seems that I'm an insomniac tonight, so I'll go ahead and do my update.
As you can see, I'm giving the 'clean shaven' look a go. I've kept a short, trimmed beard for a good while. I decided shave it, because I wondered what it would look like with my hair getting longer. I must say, I really like it. I think I'll keep it like this for a while.
And...one silly/crazed lunatic picture, because it's never a good thing to take oneself too seriously =)
Insomniac?....I thought i was the only one......
Your hair has made excellent progress. Those curls seem shiny and healthy plus they look really cool! Hang in there and keep growing it!!
~chris
Thanks, Chris. I can't wait to see your next update. Take care!
-Noble
The hair is looking really good for 18 months!
Keep up the great progress,
- Oren
Thanks Jann!
You have great looking hair there! The shiny curls and overall thickness are awesome and can only get better the longer it gets. DO keep it growing as long as possible, to at least mid back, and even better, belt length.
All the best,
David
Thanks for the kind words, David. I definitely plan on growing the hair to at least midback. I'll probably end up going further though. Belt length does sound very nice. I guess time will tell =)
It's great to hear you're considering belt length, those curls cascading down your back would be freakin' awesome!
I was wondering if you've had a beard most of your life, and if the clean shaven look is a novelty? (although the hair looks great with or without a beard!) I have been clean shaven my entire life (53 1/2 years) and only grew my first ever beard in the last month, now THAT is a novelty!
David
For the past year or so, I've pretty much kept a short beard. I guess it was because this was the first year of my life that I could actually grow a half way decent one. (I'm only 18) So, the clean-shaved look isn't too much of a novelty for me. In fact, I'm already used to it again. One thing that I like about it is not having to worry about getting food in my facial hair =P
Hey , you have really nice looking curly/wavy hair !
it look like you hair dryed it and you didnt brushed it , am i right ? ^^

My hair Journal
Yep, I don't brush or comb my hair. I only fingercomb. With my type of hair, using a brush or comb just turns it into a giant frizzball =P Your hair is looking amazing, by the way. Take care
-Noble
Such awesome curls! There's a guy that I work with who looks almost exactly like you (though he still has a beard). Do you ever try to comb your hair out at all, or just let it dry naturally like that? It'd be interesting to see the length you have if you hair were straighter. =)
-James
A comb or brush hasn't touched my hair in months. I find that either one just turns my hair into a giant, frizzy mess =P I only fingercomb these days.
Great color and curls. Keep it growing!
Mouse
Thanks, Mouse. I predict that your hair will either be wavy or curly..or maybe a combination =) Either way, keep it growing. It's going to look amazing.
That's great for 18 months. Nice texture. I think you will see some dramatic changes
over the next 6 months.
Good Luck!
I definitely hope so =) Thanks for your kind words of encouragement and all the work you put into helping this site.
Well, you are one lucky dude to look good EITHER way (clean-shaven, or bearded), --- although I personally prefer the bearded look (but then again, I say that to EVERYbody - lol)!!
The hair looks GREAT, even in the crazy pic (lol)!! Just make sure you don't get taken away by men in white jackets...
- Ken
Thanks, Ken =) I'll undoubtedly grow the beard back, whenever I get tired of the clean-shaven look.
I will evade the white jacket clad men at all costs. *looks around nervously* =P
I've tried to respond to this message twice, but I keep getting the screening notice message. Oddly enough, the board is letting me reply to the other posters. Anyway, eventually I'm sure I will grow the beard back. It will probably be just as soon as I get tired of the clean-shaven look.

When I read SOADdude's comments, I could not help thinking how lucky we men are in these days to have the freedom to experiment with our hair, clothing and accessories. Look at old documentaries and you will see that most the men are wearing short hair and jackets, often with stiff collars, ties and a top hat. The attached photo is Igor Sikorsky's first helicopter flight in 1910....look at what he is wearing to fly!! Being a "blue-jeans and T-shirt" kind of guy, I sure do appreciate being able to dress comfortable.

Great post, White Tail. That is so true. We sometimes take our basic freedoms for granted. I would have HATED to have bern one of those men back in days when men were expected to look a certain way, and absolutely NO deviation from the norm was accepted. I have a feeling that as the years go by, men will have more freedom of expression (ie. jobs willing to hire longhairs, that weren't so willing before) In a way, this is happening as we speak. I've seen long haired lawyers, politicians, doctors, etc. Those kind of professions were available only to short haired men not too far back in the past.
This looks like something I might do after a few beers.
18 Months is really a long time, and it also shows that the person is quite serious of achieving long hair. With that said: Your hair looks great!
You bet! I'm 100% dedicated.
With that said: Your hair looks great!
Thanks, Justin =)
Hey man your hair is looking really cool I really like the waves/curls. I'm somewhere at around 18 months too and my hair is similar to yours in length. Keep it growing, it looks awesome and it will look even better by summer!
-Mihnea
Looks great, your hair compliments your looks with or without a beard. Question, what does SOAD mean?
Thank you very much, Chris K. Your hair and beard look very nice together, by the way.
Question, what does SOAD mean?
It stands for System of a Down. They're a band. Back when I first joined this board, I was really into them. I still like them, but I don't listen to them as much anymore. I sometimes think about changing my username, but people here only know me as "SOADdude", so I guess I'll stick with this handle =P
Ah, yes I have heard them now I feel dumb, lol. Good band from the LA area.
Wow the hair has really grown, you have great curl to it, looks really awesome long like that. The clean shaven look and the goatee look both are cool, I think its just having a change that matters because if you are like me you just stop seeing the beard after awhile. Its also so easy to go back and forth with a short beard. Anyway terrific progress and congrats on a year and a half!
Thanks, ChrisG. I saw your recent update, but I was very busy with classes and studying. I must say that your hair has is growing very fast, and it looks very nice and shiny. The beard gives you a nice look as well. Take care, and I hope your health gets and stays great. =)
Thanks a lot, I appreciate the compliments :)
Very nice!
Thanks a lot, Jeffrey. If I could grow a beard as nice as yours, I probably wouldn't have shaved =P I guess it'll take a few more than 18 years of existence to be able to achieve that =)Later, dude.
-Noble
Congratulations @ 18 months. The clean shave is a good look for you and the hair is coming along fine.
keep on growin'
Bruce
Thanks you very much, Scooper. I appreciate it. Keep your hair growing as well.
-Noble
Thanks, rich. I'm not sure if I've seen you post before. If you're new, then welcome. If not, sorry for not recognizing the name =P Cheers to you.
-Noble
Hey
SOADdude
I think you lok alot better shaved myself its a great improvement hair looks superb to!
Axel
Thanks, Axel. I think it's an improvement as well. Take care, dude.
-Noble
superb hair!!you have that "In-between-wavy-and-curly" hair that I don't see very often.also, your hair is very shiny.well, take care man,and good luck with school!! :)
Thanks, Cerebral. Take care and good luck with school, yourself.
P.S.
Did you see that little mini-Boogeyman on Smackdown, Friday night? Wow, when you think you've seen it all...=)
As always, your hair looks great, so curly and thick. It's really approaching past shoulder length now.
And, as much as I like beards on myself, I do believe they distract from the hair to some extent. The shaven face makes your hair look longer, in my opinion.
Thanks, Bragi. Speaking of great looking hair that is curly and thick, I can't wait to see your next update =) I'm sure those ringlet curls of yours are really making progress.
That's exactly what I noticed as well. I guess it puts the hair on "center stage" if you will. =)
Great work SOADdude, your hair is looking great. Keep rockin'!!
