I am wondering if this is really possible? I suspect this picture might be a phony....
yeap..some people have hair that long..
It's real. Google for Diane Witt.
Thanks for clarifying the Validity of this photo.
Really amazing hair! I wonder how long she has been growing her hair?
I think the question to ask is this: How old is she?
Actually, it is real. The terminal length of hair is determined by the growth rate and life cycle of hair. In most people with normal growth rates, the life cycle (time it takes until hair falls out) is the determining factor of hair's terminal length, that normally vaties from around 3 years to 6 or 7 years. Absalom, who has the longest hair here, probably has a life cycle closer to 10 years. There are some rare individuals where the life cycle of the hair is near infinity, in other words, the hair never falls out, so the hair can essentially grow forever!

I do like it very long, but I don't think I'd want it long enough to have to keep it from dragging on the floor. :P
Dianne Witt probably has the longest NON DREADLOCKED hair in the world.
Absalom
Thats amazing! Happy Lunar new year!
Yeah you too!!!
Absolutely incredible! So thick and wavy and AWESOME colour! Stunning, thanks for the close up picture, Absalom, and to Chris, for starting the thread. She obviously has no terminal length and could probably grow it forever.

Red and blond hair can be among the thickest and most stubborn hair.
I used to have lots of red and blond hairs in my beard and they were
so stiff and thick that my sensitive skin couldn't take it: my skin was always red...
so the beard had to go.
Wow whatever nexted
Of course, it's possible. Diane Witt held the Guinness record for long hair for a while. A little more unknown info about her: Her daughter Alicia Witt played the child Alia in the 1984 movie Dune. Diane herself had a bit part in the movie (a character named Harah), under the name Molly Wryn. Her hair was in a large bun in the movie.
Here's a bigger copy of the picture on the balcony:
The German text under the picture reads, "Well on her way to becoming the woman with the longest hair is the American Diane Witt from Worcester (Mass.). For 15 years her splendid hair has not been cut. It is now 259 cm (8 feet, 6 inches) long."
I forgot to mention that the picture is from about 1988. She apparently went into seclusion shortly after that, as no information is available on her.
