I suppose I'll make more of a fuss at the 12 month mark...maybe some comparison pics. For now here's just a little pic.
I've seen lots of posts about what styles you guys wear your hair and, and I'm eagerly awaiting having to choose what to do with mine. But for now, I'm just kinda letting it do what it wants. I comb it all straight back after showering, and it naturally splits itself down the middle and lands somewhat like this. Sometimes it looks decent, but sometimes I get those little wings over ears. It seems to look the best when I comb it once and then don't touch it at all. If I try to fix it as its drying or recomb it it messes everything up. Anyway, I was wondering: What did everyone do with their hair before they could ponytail it? I don't really like the plastered down look of gel, and my way is certainly the easiest, but if there are any other good options I'd like to know. I think I'm still about 6 months away from a tail.
Hi Gregor.
You have made great progress for 9 months, hair looks great, nice and healthy. You are in the "awkward phase" right now, but you are not too far away from being able to tail it, I think that will come sooner than 6 months. Your bangs look long enough to tuck behind the ears, which should help you get through the next few months to the ponytail stage without having to use gel, which can dry hair out. Hope this helps, and keep up the great growth!
David
Great lookin hair, i'ts gonna look even better with more length.
Also, how short was you hair when you started growing it out?
In my case I didn't do anything but let my hair grow. Sure, there were many "wild days" along the way........but in my case I rather liked it that way. (A new look every day.) And the "styles" that came along with it could be so unique!
Your own hair is looking fine and should be magnificent when long.
Good luck to you on your journey.
Your hair looks good now, it has a nice amount of texture and bit of wave to it. During the awkward phase I just had to keep putting my hair back behind my ears a hundred times a day whenever I moved my head it seemed. I didn't want to put gel in my hair and I am not a ht person. It was annoying to me and probably to others around me but it didn't last that long.
Anyway your looking good so far, keep up whatever you are doing
Really cool hair, and it's quite long for 10 months! I had your length at the 11 month mark and started with 2 inches on the top and shaved sides. Anyways, really cool hair! Before I could tail mine I often wore a baseball style cap, or tuck it behind my ears. Whatever you decide to do with it, it looks really good on you (after all, it's long hair)

Great progress, Gregor!
Man, not bad at all, you are well on your way to whatever length you desire.
peace
I think my last cut was in late April or early May of last year. It was pretty short, probably no more than an inch anywhere. I think it's at about 7 inches now (measuring my hair with a leatherman all-in-one tool isn't really accurate...) so I think I'm going at a pretty average rate, maybe a little faster (hopefully.)
Thanks for all the comments...I'll continue to lurk and make the random offtopic post for the next two months, after which I will return with my proud year of progress
Your hair looks good, and it will look even better as the months pass. Since what you are doing works, stick with it.
Your hair is looking good, I have always been a fan of the slightly messy look. Unfortunately it is one I can not pull off well. I am right at 11 months now, and with my hair being dead straight on the top and sides, yet wavy in the back it makes for some interesting ways to wear my hair. My only advice is to try a little bit of everything. For me the most convient is to wear it back (at least when I had long enough hair for that). Yet this time around I have definately enjoyed the feeling of having my hair down, except at work where I need to look presentable and having two wings flaring off my collar does not look to professional. Good luck and keep growing.
The first time around I was forever tucking my hair behind my ears (when long enough). That caused my bangs to flip pretty severely, causing me much grief. This time around I just let it flow, and my hair behaves much better. I would suggest you use a minimalist approach and just enjoy the awkward stage. It's not that much time, really.
By the way, I think you're off to a good start.
Keep on growin'
Bruce
I was forced to use gel, spray gel and hair pins (well hidden).
If you put NOTHING in your hair it WILL fluff out and puff out
and you will look like a dandelion.
Tip: After you wash and comb your hair, touch it as little as possible.
