A kitchen porter sacked for his unkempt appearance at work has been awarded compensation totalling £6,361.
An employment tribunal ruled that Brian Phin, who had long hair and wore earrings, was unfairly dismissed.
He claimed waitresses at the Deacon Brodies pub in Dundee with a similar appearance were allowed to work there.
Bearded Mr Phin was also discriminated against on the grounds of sex. The pub, run by Rosecrown Ltd at the time, is now under new management.

It's about time men won these cases, they are sexist
I find it funny how they say unkempt. Unkempt means dirty and scruffy not a man with long hair.
Society will change one day and everyone will see it, lets hope so anyway.
"Society will change one day and everyone will see it, lets hope so anyway."
I think that's what we need, a bit of faith is never wrong!!!

People will start to see they don't need to follow everyone else. This is what the government want however.
I agree, following everyone else is sooo just goofy..
I haven't been in the "style" since the 70's. Lol...
Oh, but you are in Style now. Long hair and beards are the new hot trend. Everything old is new again.
I really don't see that yet, I sure don't want to follow trends. Too bad my elephant bell bottoms shrunk at the waist, or I would still wear them.

That is WONDERFUL! Slowly, but surely, the barriers that say men in certain occupations must have short hair WILL fall. Perhaps, some day, I'll walk into my bank and do business with a longhaired banker, get any illnesses treated with a longhaired doctor, and do business with a longhaired real estate agent to list my home, those days WILL come!
