That is the question. I am getting over the "awkward" stage and would like to get some ideas from some of you. My hair's a little shaggy right now but as it gets longer, it's laying down.
What do ya think about layering? Mike
Layering, like thinning, is the kiss of death to successfully having long hair. Your hair will lay flat once it gets longer and its weight holds it down naturally.
Hi Mike,
I would say it is better NOT to layer. Layering tends to reduce thickness, and as hair gets longer, you will want all the thickness you can get. Hope this helps.
All the best,
David
If you layer your hair, when it grows out it will look shaggy again.
It's difficult to make a til with layered hair.
Thanks for the responses guys...I will just keep letting it grow. Not sure but I think my terminal length will be a little below my shoulders. Thanks Again! Mike
Depends on which style you want.
Personally, layering = bad move.
I had layers and would not reccomend them to anyone thinking of growing their hair out. You will regret it if you get them because youll have to trim more often to get the layers to even up. If you have layers and long hair you wont be able to do nice looking braids, there will be different lenght hair sticking out all over.
I'm not sure if I understand, do you mean "layering" like making the hair straight? () The chemical way is expensive and a bit creepy, the heat way as well, it warms the hair to over 200 C degrees.
no layering as in the cutting technique. layering is basically differing lengths of hair in sections. here some pic to illustrate the style:
medium layers
short layers
longish layers
its obvious to see the problems this would cause when one is trying to grow out their hair.
Mike I started growing my hair out about a year ago and it is almost to my shoulders in back. I had one haircut aafter i decided to grow it out to correct some of the layers and needed about an inch and a half off. I dread when my hair gets to my shoulders because I decided I am going to cut about 2 inches off so it looks more even with the sides and back and can grow evenly. If you get layers you will need more haircuts along the way at bigger lengths like i did.
Peace growing your hair
