I had my first trim after growing my hair for over 3 years. I had been feeling like my hair was longer than I wanted it to be, so I thought it was a good time for a trim. Right now I think it's about perfect for how I wanted my hair to look. Here's some pics.
Looks nice.
Funny thing about trims... the last time I had one - 6 or so years ago, I think - the tip of my hair felt noticeably blunt. There was a clearly defined hem line as apposed to the stringy fringe I have today. It felt good, but I don't know that I'd want to do it again.
Hi Aeyrim,
Your hair looks great, both from your avatar picture (before trims) amd after your trim. Your hair looks in great condition with outstanding colour and lots of shine. I was wondering why you decided to trim, was it because you felt the ends needed to be evened out or did you actually prefer to have a shorter length? I was also wondering if you now plan to maintain at your current shorter length or hope to grow it longer?
All the best,
David
Thanks for the comments! As for why I got the trim, well it was for multiple reasons, but mostly because it had exceeded the length that I wanted it to be. I was having more and more trouble with tangles and was starting to dislike my hair. I had been feeling for a while, at least six months, that my hair was too long and I wanted to get it trimmed. Also having the length in back considerably longer than the front was starting to bother me more and more. Beyond those reasons, I've always wanted shoulder-length hair. I have nothing against longer hair but for myself longer was not better. Right now I'm at an all-time-happiest with my hair. I'm loving the evenness of it, and the length is perfect for me. I don't plan on letting it grow much past my upper to mid-back before I would get it trimmed again, so that would put me on a six months to one year trim interval, depending on how fast it grows.
Thanks again for the comments and questions! Happy growing!
The length really suits you. I want mine about that long, maybe a bit more. Looks healthy!

Thanks! I think the length is perfect for me. I was *very* concerned with how the trim would turn out, which is why it took several months from the time I decided I wanted a trim until I actually got one. Good luck on attaining your goal length!
Why trim the hair looks great before and well looked after.

Hi John,
Please see my reply to David below for the answer to why I got the trim. Thanks for the comments though. I try to take decent care of my hair, and I think now that it's a bit shorter it will be even easier to take care of. I'm mostly looking forward to less tangles...
Your hair does look perfect! I am glad you like the trim results and your length. I like your hair color and texture too. It's the hair type I'd choose to have had I a say in the matter!
Looks great, I really like the color and that is a good length and not to hard to maintain. Sometime I will have to figure out how long I really want mine to be but its not too long yet :)
