Here's the lastest pic, just taken this afternoon. My 3 year anniversary of my last haircut is next week but when you're talking about 156 weeks, what's 7 days? :)
All comments appreciated.

Nice changes since I got to meet you, Rick. Longer hair and the moustache are great looks for you. I always like glasses too so as always I really enjoy your updates, Rick!
Elizabeth
Thanks! Sometimes it doesn't seem like my hair's growing much until I see some previous pics then I realize 'Yep.. it's still growing!'
Ya think maybe it's time for another get-together at Golden Gate Park [or somewhere else] and top it off with dinner at Ebisu [hint, hint]? ;)
Take care,
--Rick
I'm always ready for Ebisu, or a Cuban place in Palo Alto, or ....
Pretty much food and friends anywhere is good.
Elizabeth
That's a killer mustache, Rick! I'm loving it! Your hair ain't half-bad either, lol. =)
-James
Glad you like the 'stache. I had one from 1976-1992 and shaved it off for something different. This time there's a LOT more gray! Since Gray is my last name, I've had gray hair since the day I was born! ;)
--Rick
Hey that's a really cool look you've got going Rick! Great hair and i dig the moustache.
Also, nice leather jacket too, i'm guessing you ride motorcycle or?:)
Simon
Thanks, Simon. Yep, I've got a motorcycle, an '88 Suzuki Savage, 650cc with 1 cylinder. When riding up until about a month ago, I'd always just tail my hair and let hang out down my back. But it's getting so long and now I have to tuck it in my jacket! Here's a pic up at Mt. Hamilton, not too far from my house.
Take care,
--Rick
Congratulations on your third anniversary! Do you wear your
hair down
in public or do you keep it in a ponytail?
I ask that question because if I went shopping, etc. with my hair down it
would attract too much attention.
And it's not only me: EVERY longhaired guy I see keeps his hair in a ponytail.
Thanks, Luckskind. Most of the time I wear it down in public. It depends how windy it gets! I would say that the majority of the longhaired guys I've seen around here have their hair tailed.
Keep it growin'!
--Rick
I wear it tied/tailed when working outside in the wind if it's bad, and at work. Hanging down all other times. I just don't like to feel restrained. :)
There's just something about the mane, moustache, and jacket all put together than just look wonderful. You really wear your hair with confidence.
Keep it growing!
Mouse
Thanks, Mouse! If you feel good about your appearance, then everything else is easier to deal with.
Have a good one. On second thought, have two!
--Rick
Hey Rick - Fantastic! I'm halfway there but 78 weeks (give or take 7 days) seems like a long way to go! You're and inspiration bro. Lookin' good! Bruce'ster
Hey Bruce, It may seem like a long way to go but what works for me is try not to keep thinking about it. The more you think about it, the more it looks like it's not growing. Just take care of your hair and it'll make the time go by faster... IMHO!
Thanks!
--Rick
has sure grown a lot. It is quite a bit longer than at last years longhair get together. The 'stache looks good too.
Absalom
Thanks, Scott. Yeah.. I went back and looked at some of the pics from the Golden Gate Park meeting. My hair has definitely grown some! Last October I tried the moustache and a goatee. I didn't like the looks of the beard on me. So, a few weeks later I shaved it off. I'll keep the 'stache for awhile. The last time I said that, I had the moustache for 16 years!
--Rick
just an honest opinion of me... I think you look better clean shaven and without glasses... Everything else is great.
Hi Tai Fu,
I like both looks, with or without the moustache. About a year ago, I tried contacts but my correction isn't that strong and the soft lenses were so thin that it took me a long time to get them in. Considering the cost and aggrevation to get them in and out vs. the benefits, I decided to stick with the glasses. Without the glasses, everything is real blurry, distance and close up.
Thanks for the comments!
--Rick
Yea.. the mustache just reminds me of a sheriff... I am just not too fond of police types.... sorry if it offends you though.
Your hair is simply awesome, and your mustache goes with it very well. Definitely an inspiration! Keep it growing, long and flowing! haha that was pretty lame but you get the point:P
-Mihnea
Hi Mihnea, Thanks! Your hair also looks cool. I wish my hair had more body to it like yours.
"... Keep it growing, long and flowing! haha that was pretty lame but you get the point:P" LOL! Good one... :)
--Rick
Looking great, Rick!
Your hair has definitely progressed since your last update.
Keep it growing and good luck!
Thanks, Chris!
Sometimes I think the growth has slowed quite a bit until I see older pics. :)
Good luck to you, also!
--Rick
I say everything is looking A-one SUPERB there Rick! Your hair grows FAST and at your current growth rate appears to be only 1.5 years away from waist length, I was wondering how long you are hoping to grow it? (Are you going for the maximum length possible?) And the moustache looks great as well! (Have you ever thought about a full beard, I just grew my first ever beard in my entire life and I am loving it!)
All the best, and KEEP IT GROWING!
David
I don't have any particular length in mind. When I first started growing it, I thought about keeping at mid-back length. But the longer it gets, the longer I want to grow it! In October, I tried the beard but didn't care for it and shaved it off after a few weeks. Your beard looks great! Keep it growing!
Thanks, David!
--Rick
Thanks Rick for the beard compliments! I have to say growing long hair can really get you hooked! When I first started growing just less than 3 years ago (34 1/2 months), I never would have DREAMED I would actually want hair past my belt, I had just thought that I would grow it to my shoulders or something. The only problem is, it never seems to grow fast enough! (I'm at 34 1/2 months since last haircut, I sure wish it would GROW FASTER!)
And I LOVE the view in your picture, California is simply STUNNING, I am definitely planning to get there when I retire, I would love to meet some of you guys!
Keep 'er growing,
David
The picture I am talking about was the view from the mountains in the picture of your bike you posted to Simon., (AWESOME bike!)
David
Thanks, David! That pic was taking from Mt. Hamilton, in the mountains East of San Jose, CA. That's where the James Lick Observatory is [ http://mthamilton.ucolick.org ]. It's about 4200' above sea level. As the crow flies, it's about 8 miles from my house. It's 17 miles by road! A lot of curves. :)
Take care,
--Rick
