You actually start dreaming about meeting some of the guys here!
Last night I had a dream that I was out in California, talking to RickG. We were talking about various things, amongst them, getting together with some of the other MLHH members who live out there. There are probably more MLHH members who live out there than anywhere.
I think what brought it on was having a restless night last night (I do suffer from insomnia) I woke up around 1.30 AM, fired up the computer, and saw Rick's update, he also had a picture (in his reply to Simon) showing an AWESOME view from one of the mountains close to his home. It really makes me want to live out in California or at least want to visit! (far better than Nova Scotia in the wintertime!)
I know that it is a plan of mine, when I retire in a couple of years, to hop in the car and do a road trip, leaving Nova Scotia and travel down through the states, hopefully stopping at various places on the way, meeting people from the MLHH at each stop, as I work my way to the West Coast where hopefully I can meet guys like Rick, Bill, Ken, Scott (Absalom), and a final last stop in Oregon to meet Justin.
David
Well, everybody on mlhh are welcome to hop on a flight and come hang out here in sweden. ;)
I've always wanted to visit Sweden for the longest time. Maybe one day. It seems like a nice place with lots of gorgeous blonde-haired women ;-)
Två öl, Tack!
Some words are tongue twister for me though. Luleå pronounced correctly makes the coolest sounds.
Yeah i would love to visit the US someday, actually that's one of my future dreams, to do like a roadtrip and visit all of the states, too bad it's soo expensive to journey from Sweden, i wish i was born somewhere else instead, lol:)
Simon
The area of California, which is just one of our fifty states, is almost as big as that of Sweden. Seeing all of the U.S. in one trip would make for a very big vacation. You could spend two months just seeing sites of interest in California.
You're right on track in one way - a road trip is definitely the way to go to see lots of the U.S. Most international travelers now know English well enough to get by, and of course, English is spoken everywhere here. This means you can explore the smallest of places without any concern over communications difficulties. International tourists are apt to be seen just about everywhere here for that reason. And public transit will not get you into isolated places because there are too few people to support it. You'll definitely enjoy having a car.
Bill
Wow another guy having Dreams or Nightmares must be the in thing but sometimes dreams come true just hope nightmares dont though !!
Axel
(far better than Nova Scotia in the wintertime!)
I cannot imagine what it would be like to live in Nova Scotia! I can barely stand
the weather here in southern New England! I was definitely made for warmer climates. Winter is sickening--literally, for me.
I hope you are able to carry out your plans to go on your proposed road trip when you retire. Sounds like fun! And
I wish you all the best in doing it.

Thanks for wishing me luck on my proposed trip, Luckskind! Perhaps I could include you in my proposed list of "people to visit" as well. I would love to see more of your art!
All the best,
David
Yea thats my feeling too about wintertime and I'm in NJ where the winter has been relatively mild.We just had a couple inches last night which disappointed me as Saturday was beautiful here even though still cold.As for meeting MLHH members that would be fun as I met two already one a registered user and one not.Hope to meet more in the future.Mark
Hi Mark,
Strangely, there has been very little snow in NS this year, most of the storms have missed us and hit Newfoundland instead. But is HAS been cold! I could include you as well on my list of people to visit!
(I would probably start by travelling through Mass. (chance to meet Jason?), then travel through New England, then through the mid Atlantic states and SW down to near Florida, across the Southern Tier towards California, up to Oregon, into Canada again, and across on the way back home to meet some of my fellow Canadians from the MLHH, etc.)
David
"across the Southern Tier" . . . care to pop up to Nebraska briefly? :D Well, it may be a bit out of the way. I haven't seen many Midwest or Great Plains folks here.
We do have some Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, on here. Is there a Google Earth bookmark with markers on people's approximate locations? That would be neat!
Perhaps a little off my route but things could change, I will certainly keep that area in mind. My trip is at least two years away and will require a lot of planning, and people may move before then.
Hi David! I believe this is probably one the first times I replied to one of your posts but I have definately noticed your enthusiasm about this board.I may not have posted a lot lately but I do check the discussion daily.Anyway sounds like your road trip will be a lot of fun as you can see so much more when you are at control of the wheel!LOL. I too would someday like to see the country that way instead of doing fly overs when I visit CA which I hope to do this fall. Also meeting people from here is a fun idea and I would be honored to see you when you decide to do that trip.Other than that I like what you are doing with your hair + beard as it does look great. So keep warm up there and hopefully no blizzards before the winter ends.Mark
Thanks so much, Mark!
I really appreciate the kind words about my hair and beard! I have to say I love the community here, that's why it's a dream of mine to meet at least a few of the guys from here in person, it would make a great post retirement trip. In fact, I would love to meet up with you and have a beer or two. New Jersey is definitely close to my route,(I want to cover the area around Washington DC as well as the Maryland area, I think ChrisG lives therabouts and I would really like to meet him, New Jersey is on the way there) Again, the trip is close to 2 years away, but it needs quite a bit of planning.
All the best,
David
Also, any comments/suggestions as to my "proposed road trip" are greatly appreciated! Do you think it's a good idea, a little overambitious, perhaps? Also, if you think you may be on my "route", just let me know! (Again, remember, it's still about two years away, I'm just looking for ideas for now!)
David
If you have the time and the money, you should go for it. I'm sure it would be a really fun, once in a lifetime experience. I really like living in the Pacific Northwest but it's a lot like Vancouver, BC and BC in general obviously, so if you been there I'm sure you'll know what to expect.
If you want the climatic opposite of Nova Scotia, you will have to make a swing through the Southland. If you make it to Georgia, you will find me here.
That's a long drive to plan. You'd see lots of things you'd never seen before for sure. Probably would be an awakening experience for you to see some parts of the US that they don't show on TV. It's not all shopping malls and McDonald's really!
I've always wanted to visit Prince Edward Island for some reason. That's relatively near you, I think. I used to watch that show, Avonlea, based on Lucy Maude Montgomery's books that was set on PEI.
Hi Bragi.
I know it's a huge undertaking, that's why I'm thinking about it now, I really hope it's not overly ambitious. In fact, I probably do hope to swing by Georgia, it would be great to see you! One of the main purposes of the trip is to try to meet as many of the wonderful people from the MLHH as possible in person.
PEI is a beautiful province, I have been there. If you go, try to get to the Confederation Centre in PEI, I believe they still perform "Anne of Green Gables" there. Also, give me a call if you do decide to go, perhaps you could visit me in Nova Scotia!
All the best,
David
Oh yes, Jacob!
I do have to try to visit you as part of my trip, it would be great to get together! The whole point of the trip is to try to meet as many of the MLHH members as possible, an ambitious undertaking, I know, I still don't know if it's overambitious! I also hope see as many areas of the US as possible, but I obviously can't get everywher, I know that getting to California is the first priority, how I get there is what I'm trying to work out.
it's funny you mention you dreamed about a fellow forumer, cause I dreamed about another forum member (not this one, another one I go to) of mine just a while ago lol!!
yeah,I think it'd be pretty hard to include ALL the (US) regular members here in just one road trip..but maybe if you plan out 2 or 3 trips?again,I hope you make it to St.Louis! :)
-Jacob
Sounds like a neat trip to me, David! Traveling across the country, visiting MLHH members along the way. A great way to see the USA.
Sorry to hear about the insomnia problem. I can usually get to sleep with no problem... except whenever I play a gig at a local coffehouse. I usually have a double latte during the course of the night and when I get home, I'm up 'til about 1:30am. Thank God I don't play there during the week... it'll screw up my day gig! :)
--Rick
P.S. In your dream, what else did we talk about? Wonder if I gave away any secrets!!
Hi again, Rick.
It's true, I would really love to meet some of you guys, I think that's what brought the dream on. Just reading about the get togethers all of you have out on the West Coast as well as the warm relationships all you West Coasters have with your fellow members really makes me want to visit and possibly even live out there. It really DOES seem half the MLHH lives out there and know each other.
As for my insomnia, it's a perpetual, ongoing problem, thanks for expressing your concern. I get to sleep VERY easily, but I wake up multiple times in the night, tossing and turning, and having trouble getting back to sleep. I also dream a LOT!
All the best, hope to meet you someday,
David
