Hi Simon,
Is your hair wet in the picture? It appears that it is. Don't forget that wet hair always looks thinner than dry hair, especially if the hair has a fine texture, as the strands tend to stick together, allowing the scalp to show.
It is true that the scalp is visible in your pictures, it may be entirely due to your hair being wet as I have already said. Have you checked/taken pictures when the hair is thoroughly dry? Also, if you have ANY concerns, you should see a doctor, preferably a dermatologist, who can assess your situation much better than I ever could. He can put your mind at ease if there is no problem, and can start you on an action plan (the earlier, the better) if indeed, there is thinning present.
All the best, keep us updated,
David
No it isn't wet, probably just a bit greasy because i washed it yesterday, also it could also look thinner because blonde hair is growing from the roots
Simon
Look, I have noticed that you post a lot of stressful posts of MPB but did you know that stress is the biggest problem that causes hair thinning and loosing?
After genetics.
seems a little thin... nothing bad, but It would most defintly better be safe than sorry, control it while you still can, take the precautions now. Good luck.
Not sure if it is really thinning or not, but if it is, having it long will help cover it up as you can put it in a tail (which would effectively hide the area in question). If you are really concerned , though, I recommend a doctor.

Hi there.
There is no question in my mind that your hair is thinning. You need to visit a Dermatologist soon. Propecia may work well for you, especially due to your young age. Keep in mind that the shampoo that Merck used in the FDA propecia trials was Neutrogena T-Gel. This is a coal tar based shampoo that helps to reduce scalp inflamation which frequently occurs with MPB. I do believe that you have early stage MPB, however, if MPB occurs at such an early age it may progress rapidly. Please, address the issue soon.
I would like to say that you are not alone in this. Millions of men experience hairloss to varying degrees. Remember that you can get proscar tablets and quarter them. This saves a lot of money. Be sure to mention this to your doctor.
Best wishes and please, keep us posted.
P.S. Please, try not to stress out over this. You just do what you can do and that's all you can do.
Jeffrey.
I agree; it looks like it's thinning. But then again, I don't have any expertise in the matter.
Yeah but the strange thing is i've had it like this for many years, at least what i can remember, and it's not gotten any worse either.
I have a similar thing and im 17 years old. I've posted a picture of my scalp on here before but most of the guys here advised me that its just a crown and its common but not much to be alarmed about. Your's does look thinner than mine but i think thats because you havent washed your hair... if i dont wash my hair for a couple days and it gets really greasy my scalp becomes exposed too.
I might post a picture when i get home later this afternoon, but just as you, I've had a spot on the top of my head like that too where hair just doesnt grow. Keep in mind that you have visibly thin hair overall, thats just your hairtype, i have thin hair too and when hair gets long it weighs down and since our hair is thin at the scalp then the long hair weighing it down also contributes to exposure.
If you're really concerned you could see a doctor about it, but try washing your hair and see what it looks like then, hair lays down a lot when its really greasy.
As my hair is naturally fine/thin + my blonde hair is growing out from the roots because last year i dyed my hair darkbrown/black, i don't really think i'm suffering from MPB, as my hair has been like this for a long time too.
Yep, as has mine. I've always had a slightly exposed scalp/crown, even before I grew my hair out, but I noticed that it wasnt worsening or anything throughout the years, just when I got long hair it became a bit more exposed because I have fine hair and once the hair got heavier it laid down a lot more.
The way I see it, as its not getting any worse over a long-period's time, theres no emergency.
