Hey everyone!
I've been away from this board for a while, but I wanted to post my update. It's been about 7 months and I'm creeping up on a new record for me for hair length. Of course that record is going to be utterly destroyed in the next year : )
P.S. thanks to all for the support so far, especially MR Crow for the hair cair tips. I've settled on a routine of switching between tea trea shampoo and clarifying shampoo. I have also been using a jojoba conditioner which is AMAZING for keeping frizzyness and dryness under control.
Hi, I don't think I've met you as I only joined about 4 1/2 months ago, great to see another new face, it's an awesome community, isn't it! Your hair looks GREAT, coming along very nicely for 7 months, it can only get better the longer it gets.
All the best, keep it growing!
David
Hey, it looks nice.
I was wondering something. When your hair was at about the 3/4 month stage, did it have a tendancy to curl like it does now? Or is the end-curling something you discovered as you grew it out more?
Well, I started growing from a 1/2" buzz. I guess it started curling right away, but became more noticeable at about 4 months or so. I let it dry before combing and that takes out some of the curls, but before I comb it, the curls are much more "rounded". I suspect that as my hair grows longer, it will get straighter.
No Problem, Masomaze. I can tell from these pics that yours is really a mix of loosle curly (sides and back) and straight. While it may make for an interesting akward stage, Once the top, straight hair is long enough to hang over the curls, it will simply look like all of your hair is so genetically blessed with volume. Good for you!
Plus you won't have the same level of resistance from those hairline-lying curls that refuse -- no matter the quantity of gel or hairspray -- to behave themselves when trying to toe the hair back into and early tail. (A friend of mine had that problem....yeah, that's it, a friend.)
Good update and keep on growing, no matter the pressure. You need the drive that can last: imagine that it will take another year before strangers think you are a long-hair wearing man (rather than an obstinately lazy short-hair wearing man)...are you in for the long haul?
(I am betting you are!)

I'm pretty determined, can't really imagine turning back now, the old me seems very "last year". I'm quite happy with how its turning out, I've been using shampoo only every 2nd or 3rd wash and drip/air drying before brushing with great results. Stay strong!

Yay! You look a little bit like Mr Crow - you've both got that young Shakespearian look going on ;o)
Lookin' great, thats very similar to mine at 7 months. Keep it growing.
Your hair looks great! What sort of jojoba conditioner do you use?
Mouse
I've been using this jojoba conditioner by Desert Essence, I bought it at a health food type store, $5 or 6$ I think. Its basically all natural ingredients, hope I can find it again when my bottle runs out!
