Hello Fellows,
I am wondering if you have found anything that helps thinning or baldness. My hair is about mid-back length and I have male pattern baldness. It doesn't look great with the length. Any ideas about remedies that you have found successful?
My Thanks,
Hi Josef,
I too, also have some early signs of MPB (I'm 53 1/2), although it's not too bad and is hardly noticeable, except a small thin area in my crown area and an overall feeling that my hair is not as thick as it used to be. I don't know how bad your case is, perhaps you could post some pictures if you feel so inclined (But don't feel you have to post pictures if you would rather not).
I'm afraid there's no real cure for it, but there ARE ways to treat it and slow it down and even reverse it to some degree if you're lucky. You should probably see a doctor, preferably a dermatologist, who will proably prescribe propecia, which helps to get at the root of the problem by de-activating the enzyme that eventyally plays a role in MPB, it is more effective the younger you are. Also, you can apply Rogaine to the scalp, this does not actually get to the root of the problem but DOES stimulate the scalp and can cause some re-growth in the thin areas.
Hope this helps, keep us updated,
David

What you have may not be male pattern baldness. Everyones hair gets thinner as they grow older, apsrt from the odd lucky person.
Male pattern baldness can happen as early as late teens-early 20's and hair will start to disappear from the crown and recede from the sides of the front of the hair.
What you are experiencing is probably just down to age.
Wouldn't like anyone going bald!!!
Great. That sounds *exactly* like what I've got. Especially the "late teens-early 20's" part
His height... maybe his upper-body strength... nooooooo, my father had to give me his giant forehead and his horrible vision. Thanks, dad. Thanks a lot. I'm gonna go cry in the corner now.
I still don't know what his age is. My Grandfather had very thick hair when he died at 86 and his father had very thick hair when he died at 92. This indicates that hairloss can be very difficult to predict. My father was bald by 40. My hair is somewhere in between.
