I've got a bit of a problem. After 18 months of growing my hair with no trims so far, my ends are becoming a little uneven. I've closely examined many individual strands in front of the mirror with bright light, and thankfully, I haven't even spotted one split end. So, obviously, I have no sort of split end problem. My ends are just getting a bit uneven, and it sort of looks like I have split ends. I would hate to get a trim right now, especially since I don't even have any splits.
I don't know...maybe I shouldn't worry about it too much. I take very good care of my hair. I never blow dry or straighten it. I condition thoroughly everyday. Plus, I fingercomb only, because combs and brushes turn my curly, thick hair into a frizzball. Since I fingercomb carefully, I have a very low shed rate. The only hairs I lose are the ones that shed naturally. I can't even remember the last time I heard one of my hairs snap.
Hmm, it sounds like this post has turned into a pathetic attempt at trying to convince myself that I don't need a trim lol
If I actually had split ends, I would definitely get a trim, but as it is (split end free but still looking a little ratty)..I really don't know if that would even be worth it.
If youre concerned you should get a small (!!!!!!!!) trim but it doesnt sound like a problem, maybe its cause of winter too with all the heavy clothing, wind, etc. either way you have awesome wavy hair and it looks great on you, and its a good thing that there are no split ends! keep it growing!

Thanks, Mihnea. Come to think of it, the weather has been very windy here lately. Once that stops, I'm sure my hair will stay neater looking throughout the day. I'll be able to tie a secure, low ponytail in about a month, so that should help a lot as far as battling the wind goes.
yeah im at about the same stage, its really windy here too and i get a lot of tangles in my hair because of that, and if i wear a hat i get hat hair so i have a problem either way:p. but the good news is, spring seems to be coming!

Curly hair never has even ends. One day some curls one way, the next day the other. If you trim your hair tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, it will look the same as today, only shorter. I'd only trim it if you want it shorter.
Another curlyhead, here seconding this thought.
