Basically...I have been planning this part of my life for about 2 years now, but only recently applied and was accepted!
Accepted into what you ask? I'll tell you: Lance Storm's Professional Wrestling Academy!
That's right, from January 2008 for 12 weeks I'm going to be trained by Lance Storm! In Calgary...Alberta Canada.
I live in Sydney and have never been away from my family for so long, or to this part of the world, so it's going to be an experience!
As many of you know, my career is going to be in Personal Training and Rehabilitation Counselling, so I'm really doing this because Pro Wrestling has been a passion of mine for a very long time and I respect Lance a great deal (quick plug, check out: www.stormwrestling.com).
Who knows?-I may never be involved again after the 3 months are up, or I may get involved a little in the wrasslin' scene here in Australia...I may even get a dark match, or a squash match (e.g. can you imagine against Umaga!) on RAW etc., if I have the time (I will be finishing my degree this year and I'm not sure when my graduation ceremony will be in 2008), and the ability. Lance definitely has the connections!
Ok, that's it, just wanted to share this news with my fellow longhairs, many of whom live in the States/Canada, and a few who are also wrestling fans :-)
That is really exciting news !
Thanks for Sharing with us....and please keep us updated on the adventure.
Good Luck
Walter White Tail
Congrats man
I'm a pretty big WWE fan' maybe someday I'll see you on it
Wow, that is great!
I am really happy this has presented itself for you. Show the long hair proudly! (And your super slick 'stache, too.)
Awesome, Dean!

Bravo Dean! This is sensational news and I am so happy for you that this opportunity has come along. (You must be walking on "cloud 9!!!!!!!!) It couldn't be happening to a nicer guy then are you Dean.
Calgary is a very interesting place indeed with much to marvel at.
I must admit I'm a little concerned about Lance Storm once he meets the likes of you. Please go easy on him. LOL
Great news for sure.
Standing Ovation!!!!!!!
Justin~
Wow, that's great man! Best of luck.
You might be the victim of a Samoan Spike one day. =D
Congratulations!!!
Just don't get involved in a match where the loser gets his hair
cut!
Lance Storm is great, and I'm sure he's a great teacher. I especially liked his work in ECW. And it was impressive when he lost to Edge in 1 minute and 8 seconds, lol STORM 1:08 forever!
Good luck with your training.
w00t w00t!!that's great news!!!don't know much about lance storm, but I'm sure he;s a good teacher,as he's got a lot of endorsements from wrestlers I respect (Y2J,etc).who,knows?maybe this is a start of a great career!!maybe some day YOU will be doing the squashing, lol!!take care!!

Congratulations, Dean, that's great news! A future warm welcome from this wonderful country of CANADA while you're here in 2008. (In fact, I lived in Calgary for 4 years during my childhood from the late 1950's to early 60's, it was MUCH smaller then!) Best of luck in your future wrestling program, I'll have to look for you on TV some day.
All the best,
David
Congratulations! How many of us have a dream come true like this.
I hope everything goes according to your plans!
Good luck and best wishes.
Congratulations, man! But CALGARY in JANUARY? Remember, January isn't the middle of the summer up here. Stay warm!
Bill
Actually, Bill, if Dean is lucky he could get very good weather in Calgary in January. I lived in Calgary from the late 1950's to early 60's and the good thing is that Chinook winds off the Rockies can cause temperatures to rise into the 50's and near 60! Over the last few years, this has been happening more and more often. Again, I say if Dean is LUCKY! If he's not lucky it can be very cold, -30 or so! (At least they get very little snow there even when it is cold, and the sun shines almost all the time)
David
Yes, for Dean's sake, we should all pray for global warming! [grin]
A friend of mine from Missoula also has spoken of those winds, making winter a real roller-coaster when it came to temperatures.
Bill
I've lived in northern Montana, about 15 miles from Canada, and the weather can be really brutal there in the winter.
Congrats mate! Have you picked a wrestling name yet??
Not as yet :)
Although...I used to wrestle in a backyard fed (nothing dangerous, in fact the focus was on our 'storylines') for 2 years (the life of our group) in 1998 and 1999 as The Reaper.
My friends from Melbourne still affectionately include that as one of my main nicknames.
Perhaps: Jewish Justice?!
No...I'm doing this for the experience, but if I do love it and have some ability at it, I don't see why i would not maybe get involved a little in the Australian scene.
I'll cross that bride when I come to it, but for all I know I may be wrestling at Indy events before I come back to Australia (month or 2 max)!
confratulations!!! I am really happy for you.. ;)
and oh yeah I watch RAW too
Congrats! I too want to pursue a career in professional wrestling soon. I need to get my head together and get back in shape physically before I can even think about stepping in, though. I'm thinking about this school, as I'm a fan of A.J. Styles' work.
http://www.wwa4.com/generic59.html
I'm not sure about pursuing it as a career myself, more as fulfilling a dream and a personal passion, but you never know...
That school does sound good, but perhaps a bit high on the hype..I'm not sure and I'll have to look through it in more detail to better make up my mind, but hey! They've trained some TOP guys, like Styles, and they're based in Atlanta, home of what used to be good ol'WCW i.e. a proud Wrestling tradition there.
Regardless I wish you the best in your pursuits, keep us updated and start hitting the gym and the fitness! :-)
That's awesome, man! Congratulations. The first time I heard about that place was in the Rock's biography, I think. At any rate, that's a hell of a step forward, and it could lead to one beautiful crystal staircase if you (or Lady Luck) play(s) your cards right. As to the match with Umaga, though...good luck. You'll need it. :P
Peace, and best of luck in your endeavours.
Hey
Dean Im not a Wrestling Fan I prefer to watch Boxing but Good Luck with your time at Lance Storm's Professional Wrestling Academy!
Axel
Congratulations Deano, thats just awesome.
I might need your autograph now before you get famous and shun us all!!
I wouldn't do that Dave!!
Or would I....
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
I'm so very happy for you.
I wish you the very best.
P.S. Get ready for the cold, Southern Boy!
Jeffrey.
Thanks for the well-wishes Jeffrey, they mean a lot, but...is it really neccessary to call me "Southern Boy"?
Hi Dean.
No harm intended. It's just that right now you are so very far south of Canada. That's all.
Jeffrey.
