Eveywhere site I have gone to that has to do with growing your hair out long tells you to use condtioner. My mom has a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner but it is for normal hair. I have thick wavy hair. So I was wondering if it would matter if I used that stuff or do they make certain conditioner for wavy hair???? If so waht is a good brand to buy????
If you have thick wavy hair, I think it WOULD matter that her conditioner may NOT be doing anything for your thick wavy hair since in my opinion and experience, most shampoos that are 2 in 1 have a weak or poor conditioning content. If you're going to get conditioner, then get CONDITIONER! Don't get a 2 in 1 Use shampoo and conditioner seperately. You'll enjoy it more! At least I do. I'm in the awkward stage right now and I act like I have really long hair! You might wanna try going to your local salon and asking the people there. They would be happy to help you and it is a plus since they can take a look at your hair and tell you exactly what you need. I've read a bunch about the brand BIOLAGE on the board but never tried it myself. HOPE THIS HELPS>

Try a test. For a couple of weeks, use the "2 in 1" product. Then for a couple of weeks, use separate shampoo and follow up conditioner such as anything from the St. Ives line. Or use different products at the same time on the left and right sides of your head.

I have thick, curly hair, so I use a detangling shampoo and a moistening conditioner. One good shampoo that most white guys never try is CREAM OF NATURE. It rinses out like conditioner. The best conditioner going right now is the 32oz Tresame' @3.29. It's thick as all get out and you can comb out the knots while it's in.
Detangling shampoos are good for thick hair 'cause usualy the water from the shower is gonna tangle up your hair if it was not tangleed up before. With me, non-detangling shampoos are more like PRO-tangling. There are some good detangling shampoos in the children's section. One looks like a silly red fish.
Never believe that the instructions are true when they say you won't need a separate conditioner. I use detangling shampoo, moisturizer, and I leave some in while braiding my hair. If I didn't use conditioner, I'd have dreads.
