I called my doctor's office today, and found out my appointment is May 16th. Apparently they had the appointment in the computer and hadn't called me, they normlly only do that one month before, it was only through my calling them that I found out about it. It'll be good to know where I really stand, I'll also bring up Avodart as well.
David
Yes. Please, keep us posted. It would be nice if they had the same kind of instruments that Rassman's clinic has. That way they could be very precise.
Wasn't that a great job that they did on Neohippy? (It probably wasn't Rassman, but it was an excellent job nevertheless). I understand what Bill meant in another post about not having the before and after pics, but the hairline was excellent. You know, I think that 1000 grafts would really fill in my receding hairline, but, I am curious as to how it would affect the volume of the hair in the back. You know what I mean? Also, I don't know if hair that is transplanted from the back to the front will still grow as long as it once did after it is transplanted. Anyway, I did find the pricing on Rassman's site. It is $10.00 per graft if Rassman does it and $6.00 per graft if another surgeon does it. When they post a picture, I wish that they would tell us which surgeon did the work that is shown. I think that a transplant is one of those things in which one would want the very best surgeon available. So, 1000 grafts would either be $10,000.00 or $6,000.00
I don't know if the extra $4,000.00 for Rassman to personally do it would be worth it or not.
Jeffrey.
Hi again, Jeffrey, thanks for replying. I do hope they can do a miniaturization measurement, that would give a a really good assessment where I stand. What has been scaring me lately is how thin my hair appears when it is wet, my scalp is visible all over. (Do you notice that?) Strangely, I don't seem to shed a lot, and when the hair dries, it appears a lot thicker.
I have to say I was totally stunned when I saw Neohippie's pictures, the grafting job was absolutely spectacular, and I was also amazed when he indicated some body hair was involved around the frontal hairline. I don't think it was Rassman who did the work, I don't think Rassman uses body hair. However, I still think that Rassman is the best transplant surgeon in the world. I don't think my hair is bad enough for a transplant yet, I always think it's better to save the donor hairs until you really need them, you really don't want to use them too early. Also, I understand that FUE work requires a shaved scalp to do (if I am not mistaken), probably to reduce the risk of infection, so it would mean giving up long hair for a time. I really feel for Lifobryan, and nearly cried when I read his post, I really hope he can fulfil his dream to grow long hair, he wants it so badly.
David
hopefully what I say here will put this worry to rest:my scalp is visible too, when my hair is wet,and you see how thick my hair is!!!it's perfectly normal..
Thanks Jacob, for the words of reassurance! It's good to hear that even for a guy with REALLY thick hair, that is normal, I have been rather scared lately by the thin hair when wet syndrome, as I didn't have a "control" to compare it to.(typical science term lol!)
Dave
Jacob is right. I think that everyone's scalp is visible when wet. I was talking about the part of my scalp that is still visible when dry :)lol.
You saw the pic of my hair when it is wet. I can't hide my receding hairline, but when it is dry I usually can. In most pics it doesn't even show. I am going to measure my hair when I get back. I'll probably be back in about 5 days. I think that the back is longer than the front. I really question if I could ever get close to waist length at this point. If I can I might try that, but I have no idea how much longer it will take. You know, we talked about that a while ago. The more I think about it the more I would like a professional opinion, just to predict my future to some degree. In the pic my hairline looks ok, but when wet it sucks. It actually changes my looks entirely.
Best to ya!
Jeffrey.
Thanks for the picture, Jeffrey! I have to say in this picture, the hair is looking really fabulous and as you said, the recession doesn't show at all, and the beard is looking Ace as well.
I would say, most definitely, go for waist length! That's what I would really like, but frankly, I think you have a much better shot of reaching that length that I could. You started growing your hair around six months after I did, and you have left me in the dust, so to speak, as far as length goes. That's why I think your terminal length will be longer than mine, after all, you're more than 10 years younger! Sometimes I get a little bit discouraged by my slow growth rate. I am certainly interested in seeing the length of your hair in back, please post a picture when you can.
All the best,
david
Hey David, I don't think that is a major issue as I too can see my scalp when my hair is wet! Unless if i am going bald too! :-) JUST KIDDING JUST KIDDING. All jokes aside , I hope all goes well with the Doc. and Please keep us posted!
Thansk so much, Chris, I really appreciate the support! I've been waiting a long time to see the dermatologist and am looking forward to seeing where I really stand. (My family doctor, who prescribed the propecia back in Dec., is not a real expert and simply said that I have symptoms of MPB.)
Thanks again,
David
