i am not a smoker but my g/f is and when i get home i can really smell the smoke in my hair cause it sticks to everything like my clothes and so on. is it harmful to my hair?
I'd say not. Unless she breathes out her smoke exactly in your hair, everything's ok I guess. The only problem is the smell, of course. I used to smoke myself for half a year but quit last week for my hair's health lol (not intimidated by the lungs cancer or anything else but hair OMG)
Maybe you can ask her not to smoke often in your presence, although I never listened to those remarks :/
As long as you shower and shampoo/condition your hair after then no.
Smoking will do damage to your hair though, make it dry, same with skin.
Second hand smoke would probably have very little effect. . .as Bill mentioned in an earlier thread, nicotine lowers circulation in the skin, and hence, the hair follicles, and might have some impact there. . .but if you're not the one smoking, that's probably not a problem.
I myself smoke a hookah (can't stand cigarettes), and I've never noticed any change in my hair growth rates. Hookah smoke smells exquisite anyways, like incense, I don't mind if the odors get in my hair!

I think you should be fine. I've always heard that smokers tend to have dull hair though. I think some chemicals in cigarettes can make you hair dull but i am not sure if it causes balding and slow growth rate....
I haven't noticed any problems with my hair, and I used to smoke daily, up until four months ago.
Haven't noticed any difference since I stopped either.
Tell your gf to give up that nasty habit is the best way to deal with it.
I don't smoke, but I have a wood burner in my garage and use it often. My hair has yet to have any permanent damage, just a bad smell and slight dryness afterwards. Just wash and condition and its fine.
