Hi Guys
For a number of years, one of my (many) hobbies has been aquiring Carnivorus Plants, most of which live in isolated areas in Tropical Climates. I am able to grow them and "Winter-them-over" despite the fact that the ground can sometimes actually freeze here in Oregon. Not only beautiful to look at, but a marvel at catching insects which are used as food for the plants. Most only seem to know of the Venus Flytrap, but there are so many more unknown by most.
A few weeks ago I sent Luckskind an email photo I had taken late last May when the plants had come back to life for the Summer. What I received back yesterday by surprise I consider such a gorgeous painting. Just spectacular!
Thank you for sending me this email Luckskind. What a treasure awaits the person that purchases this profound work of your genius.
Justin~
ps: Hey........I can actually bring "hair" into this posting. The tall Pitcher Plants have an inside lining of downward pointing hairs. Just to make sure that the insects cannot escape once they fall a helpless victum to the innocent looking trap. And DO THEY EVER fall for these. So full by the end of the season many are actually filled to the top. Amazing!
ps2" Would you believe that so far the ONLY Carnivorous Plant I have little success with is the ONLY native to my state and upper CA. It is called the "Cobra Lilly."
Thanks so much, Justin, for posting yet another of Luckskind's marvelous pieces of work. In fact, after you posted your beard update, I checked out your link to your photobucket account and saw this fabulous piece of work, I am really happy you posted it to the board so that everyone could see. I only wish I was not limited by the small size of the computer screen when seeing these pieces of work, I can only imagine what seeing them in full size must be like.
And congratulations on your skills in getting these tropical plants to survive winter and come back to life in the following summer, I hope I have the opportunity to see your garden when I visit in 2009. (I also notice in some of your latest pictures how green Oregon is right now, you're even wearing a short sleeved shirt in your beard photo! I wish I could say that about Nova Scotia, lol, forecast to go below zero, fahrenheit, tonight.)
All the best,
David
...thank you...
Now to really firm up your new tough-guy image, Justin, you need to add a T-shirt to your look that says, "I grow plants that torture and kill".
...thanks!
