Its been 18 months since my last haircut(last forever I hope!). My hair is between my shoulder blades on the back and about 4" below my chin on the sides and front. The awkward stage wast tough but worth it! It has pretty much stopped curling up and I cn tie a decent ponytail if I want.
I started taking 1200mcg's of biotin in Feb. and upped it to 1800 in April plus I started taking 2 FoTi capsules every day. I would say over 50% of this growth has occured in the last 5 months since I started taking these suppliments.
I was a little nervous about wearing a pony tail for the first time, but I had to for work, now everyone compliments me on how good it looks, even though I'd prefer to wear it down.
One problem- I have an area on the top/back of my head that is thinning rather badly, I thought having long hair would hide it, but it makes it standout even more! I don't believe rogain or propecia are going to do me any good, so I'm considering hair transplant surgery. I'm wondering what others experiences have been with this?
It's going to cost around $5000. so I want to makes sure its worth it
Thanks, Steve
It depends on how old you are, you may need to keep having transplants for years, I have only seen a few people whohad a very slight hair loss have success. if you are under 40 you will loose more hair, and need to keep having them, you also become very thin in the doner area. be very careful, there is NO return from this! I wear a hair piece and find that its much better and safer. let me know if you want more info
Paul- thanks for the info, I was rather concerned about the donor area to, I don't want to loose the nice full look I have in that area now. I'm 45 so they said not to expect a lot more hair loss. The loss I have had has occurred over a long period of time (over 10 years), butI'm still a little unsure about this.
don't do it! No matter what anyone says, there will be scarring from the surgeries. You will also lose density of hair in the donor area. I know this is not what you are looking for, but I think men with very thin or balding heads of hair should just shave it all off! It looks natural and very sexy!
hi all, this is my 1st post to this board. i just moved to Va Beach, wondering if anyone knows of a place to get trims. my hair is about mid-back. i get it trimmed every 6-8 wks. thanks in advance. jim
Steve....I've done it and glad I did. I'm 42 now and have had 3 transplant surgeries done since I was 34. I'm also taking Propecia as a supplement on the recommendation of my dermatologist.
When I initially went to see him for a consultation on hair transplant surgery, he told me right there that because of my hair color and texture (very blond, straight, and fine), I was a perfect candidate for surgery. He told me that I would probably need between 3 to 4 surgeries.
Well, I had my 3rd surgery 15 months ago and now I'm extremely pleased with the results. I had gone in to see him again about 6 months ago as a follow-up to the surgery and healing process. He told me I would only need another surgery if I wanted more density. I'm still contemplating this but, as I said, I'm very happy with the way it looks now. Only close friends know that I've had it done...even the guy that cuts my hair didn't notice until I mentioned it to him.
Even the donor section at the back has filled in....
The surgery is so advanced now that you'd have a difficult time finding the donor area...mind you, I have a lot of hair back there.
The doctor I see practices in Toronto and New York and this is all he does...specializes in hair transplantation.
E-mail me if you'd like more information and I'll try to get you a picture so you can see for yourself.

Have you tried Rogaine or Propecia? I have found Propecia to be a miracle drug. Give it a chance.
