Hi everyone, just wanted to say what a inspiration this site is, i am a 45 year old man who has always wanted long hair, midlife crisis or not i am going for it now. My last haircut was in late october, from a skinhead, so i am just approaching the 1st awkward stage.BIG HAIR. My freinds and family think it looks hilarious, but i know i will persevere.I have looked at a couple of progress growing sites like gollan, james raymond, and bey, and they have really motivated me. cheers fellows, jonny, from essex uk
Welcome to the board, Jonny. It's nice to hear that we inspire people, but really we're just doing what nature intended. Post a photo or two if you get a chance! =)

I'm in the same boat! My last razor-bald cut was on Sep 23rd so I am at about 5 and a half months. The big hair stage is upon me but generally it's ok cos i just leave it however it is when i roll out of bed in the morning and deal with washing and conditioning etc when i get home from work. Basically it looks like a cross between a birds nest and something REALLY unstyled/unfashionable...but who cares right? we're surely old enough to not care mostly what other people think and get on with the slow process of growing it out.
I am 34 and my wife still wants me to stop growing my hair but i have never had long hair so i must have it!
Good luck with your growth!
Andy from lincolnshire UK
Hi Jonny,
I have been a lurker on this great site for a few months now and have to say you are not alone mate ! I too stoped getting my hair cut at the back end of last year. Being a 52 year old going from a Mitchell brothers look alike ( very, very short hair ) to "is it a bloke or not?" when viewed from behind, is frankly other peoples problem. I have, however been pleasantly surprised by my partner who before never liked " girly hair" but is now saying things like " I love your blond hair" and "it's so soft".
However I can sympathise with you as I have BIG hair at the moment and Bed Head first thing in the morning is a definate understatement !
Keep it growing for as some great guy from this site said to years ago when I did my first attempt at growing my hair... " you are a long time dead and have a short time to be yourself !"
Regards
Chris
Good luck on your Long Hair Journey!
Welcome Jonny, hang in there. It gets better with length!
Keep on growin'
