Hi, I'm new to the forums and was wondering how many strands of hair are typically lost per day for you? I seem to be losing quite a few (10-15) per day and it's making me think it might not be worth it to grow my hair because pretty soon I feel that loss will be noticeable. Am I thinking right or just overreacting? Thanks.
First of all WELCOME!!!
Second, what you are experiencing is completely normal. Actually most people lose more. As the hair falls out, a new hair is soon to follow in its place. Such is the reason that your hair will always have a few "fly aways" (hair that seems to always be lose when in a tail).
Best of luck to the many months ahead.

Ya but my hair comes off whenever Its when and I'm trying to comb it. It doesn't necessarily come off when left alone. However, my hair gets fairly frizzy if not combed. Is that typical?
Hi and welcome to a great community!
Actually, 10 to 15 strands per day is a phenomenally low rate of hair loss. The normal rate of shedding is between 50 and 100 strands per day, if you are only losing 10-15 per day, that means that your hair strands have a much higher than normal lifespan. (A full head of human hair contains close to 100,000 strands) This eventually translates to a longer terminal length, assuming you have a normal growth rate of 6 inches per year. This means that you should be able to grow your hair to much LONGER lengths than normal!
By all means, GROW your hair, don't let anything stop you!
Hope this helps, and welcome to our community!

Greetings - I have never counted and don't presume I ever will. You've heard the expression, "can't see the forest, for the trees." Well, I'm looking at the big picture and I'm in it for the long run...no time to, or interest in splitting hairs. (pun intended.) Grow Man Grow - Bruce'ster
Humans lose on average 100 strands a day.
