Here's a pic of SteveNoVa, ChrisG, and Elektros at a Thai restaurant in the D.C. suburb of Silver Spring, MD.
Looking great there guys!
I certainly hope to meet at least some of you in the spring of 2009 when I make my road trip. I have already been in contact with Chris.
And a note to TLH, I assume you will be back in Texas at that time, I will be crossing Texas on my road trip, would love to meet up with you as well at that time!
And a note to Chris, your hair looks really shiny in that picture! You had complained about lack of shine in your hair earlier, you have most definitely solved that, congratulations! Your hair is positively GLOWING here!
Keep everything growing, guys!
David
I didn't change anything yet David, lol. Must be one super bright flash TLH has in his camera :)
If you don't stop in San Antonio, I'll be upset. All long hairs are welcome! TLH
Hi again, TLH!
I will most definitely stop in San Antonio as I travel from the East Coast to the West Coast. The trip is still a couple of years away, but I'll add your name to my list. I'll be in touch when the time draws near.
David
I will be in D.C. in June; I'm looking forward to meeting these three! I'll be in touch with you guys as the time nears.
Bill
Bill, we were discussing the rather ironic possibility that I might be in California by then. If so, then I might even meet you before June. As you may recall, my employment situation is in a state of flux. I should know more in a week or so. I'll definitely keep people here up to date on what happens.
A part of me will miss DC, because I lived in the area all my life, and although I complain about it sometimes, I believe in cities and am willing to accept the challenges that can come with urban living.
If I move to CA, I'll get a car though. A part of me misses having one. You can take the boy out of the 'burbs but maybe you can't take all the 'burbs out of the boy.
Cool Steve you might be out here!
"Move to CA" can mean a lot of things. California is a huge state. If you slid it due east without moving it north or south any, its northern border would be in Connecticut and its southern border in southern Georgia. Texas and Alaska are bigger, but no state is as diverse as California. We have intensely packed cities and isolated deserts. We have places that are very warm, places that have cool summers but mild winters, and places where it snows several yards deep in the winter.
Have you been out here to explore where you want to live? If not, you'll want to rent a car and explore the state for about a month to decide. MOST places in California you will want a car. In a few places such as San Francisco, it is so crowded you may have a hard time finding parking and may wish you didn't have one.
You mentioned suburbs. Of course we have lots of them. But they vary a lot. Some are in cool woodsy hills and some are in hot flat valleys. Some are beach towns. Indeed, some people move here to be in the suburbs, but some certainly don't. It was about twenty-five years ago that I overheard two men talking on the subway, and the bit of their conversation which I heard was, "I didn't move three thousand miles to live in Walnut Creek."
Walnut Creek is only thirty miles from San Francisco, but there's a world of difference between the two.
Are you considering the San Francisco area? If so, BY ALL MEANS look the MLHH crowd here up! Although there are more Californians in the Southland, it is in the Bay Area that most MLHH Californians live.
Bill
I look forward to meeting you as well, Bill
