I've gotten into the habit of tying my hair back for classes, but the other day I took a shower in the morning istead of evening, and I didn't want to tie my hair while it was still wet, so I walked to school with it down. By coincidence, that happened to be a very windy day.
And my hair kept getting into my face.
It was awesome. I was on a high as I got to class because of it. It just felt so cool to be walking through the parking lot with my hair whipping all over the place.
Then the next day I'm bagging my groceries at the register, and my wallet's sitting over the check-out, and the lady behind me turns ot me and says "ze ha arnac shelach?" It means "is this your wallet," but she used the female form of "your," and corrected herself when I turned around. She blamed it on not having her glasses on, but I thought it was funny. It's not like she meant any harm, and hey, it means I've really got a decent mane now.
Is that Hebrew?
Yeah, I'm going to university in Israel. Probably gonna end up doing army service when I'm done. Hopefully Ahmecrazyjad over in Iran doesn't choose right *then* to unveil his nuclear arsenal :-p
Wow, good luck with that. I would like to visit Israel or study abroad there, but my parents probably wouldn't approve.
I guess I kinda lucked out on the parent front: both my parents did the same thing when they were in their 20's. In fact, that's how I came about. Not much they can tell me without being hypocrites, and besides that, they know what kind of country it is (and it *isn't* what the news makes it out to be).
If you're really interested, my school's got a promotional web page here: http://www.tribalddb.co.il/work/rris/ It's a 3-year BA program, completely in English. Tuition's around $6,000/year, and the place is located in one of the safest places in Israel, geographically. Check out the "hear students rave" tab and listen to some of the videos... maybe show them to your parents.
If you're serious about it, though, you should probably do a trip on Birthright first, just to get a feel for the country. Israel's not much different from Europe, but college is scary, and so is moving to a new country. You're gonna want to A) find out if Israel's really for you, and B) take away some of the stress of moving here, if you choose to do so. Birthright can be found here: http://www.birthrightisrael.com/bin/en.jsp?enPage=HomePage

If that happens we'll all have more to worry about than hair issues.
