It's been a while since I checked in here. I've been growing my hair for 8 years now. My hair growth seemed to stop on the sides at 2 inches and slowed down everywhere else on my head (my hair is still shoulder length with no cutting). I'd like the hair on my sides to be as long as the hair on the back of my head. I'm thinking this could be a nutritional deficiency.
One food that I avoided growing up was fish. Now at 35 I'm being recommended fish oil for my cholesterol by my doc. I also have read about other beneficial effects of fish oil on the brain...it helps with memory and learning.
Now back to my hair-could fish oil help the body grow hair?

Hi Marty,
I dont know about hairgrowth a nd fish oil but I hope it helps with cholesterol. I also hope that you didnt reach terminal length at that short
Hi Marty,
Have you tried laser therapy?
You don't look to have MPB but lasers seem to work well for many regardless.
The FDA recently approved the use of the lasercomb for hairloss and improving the growth of hair in men and women.
I didn't want to spend the $600 and came across a cheaper laserbrush sold on ebay for $100. It looks cruder but works well.
I'd give it a shot.
The FDA hasn't approved anything for hair growth since Rogaine and Propecia.
Peace.
I've been taking fish oil for some time now, maybe 6 months.
Here are the list of suppliments I take for my hair...
Fish Oil
MSM
Maxi Hair Vitimin
Horsetail
My hair is looking pretty good for a 37 year old guy fighting MPB.
Peace to my long haired brothers and sisters and soon to be longhairs too!
MPB...Male Pattern Baldness? I don't have that yet...I don't think. MPB does run in my family...dad's a cue ball and my brother's on his way. Grandfather on my mom's side has a receding hairline in the front but the rest is ok. The genes are there.
I read about how fish oil Omega 3s can also benefit your skin and nails. They didn't mention hair, but I would think it's all the same.

May sound a silly question but are you refering to Omega 3 ?
Axel
Yes Omega 3 is in Fish Oil, which is usually taken in gel cap form, i take a 1000 mg cap everyday along with other supplements (3000 is recommended, but my daily diet contains plenty of fish anyways) IMHO it is great for hair nails and skin, esp for those worried about mercury content or just dont like fish!
Thanks for the info...I found this on an Omega 3 fish site (Omega 3 powder):

Omega-3 may help promote:
*Joints and mobility
*Skin and complexion
*Immune system
*Visual function
*Ability to breath
*Positive behavior in children
*Function of the nervous system
*Spatial function and spatial memory
*Cellular communication
*Weight maintenance
It doesn't mention hair, but the 2nd point of skin made me wonder.
The last time I ate sardines I got lots of fish oil in my beard, but it didn't grow any faster, although it sure stunk! [wink]
