Hi :) from an occasional lurker, and thanks in general for some of the advice I've read in the past couple of years. This might be long, feel free to just look at the pictures :D (I'm avoiding revision).
It's 30 months since I had a hair cut, i.e. September 2004 (it was really short back then though). Looking back at some photos I looked pretty stupid at some of the awkward stages, but I didn't notice/care at the time so it doesn't matter now.
I was surprised by my parents reaction, I was expecting them to be constantly pestering me, but I started University in October 2004 and moved away from home and after a while I think they just accepted they couldn't do anything about it – they sent me £30 a few times "for a haircut" and told me I looked scruffy whenever I saw them, but nothing much really. I did get an unkind email from my dad just before I went for a job interview telling me to get it cut and saying I wouldn't get the job if I didn't, but I was offered the job and my hair hasn't been mentioned since :).
I can't remember when I was first mistaken for a woman, but at a hospital recently I was asked "Miss... Mr... Ms... erm... what is your assumed gender?" by a nurse taking my details, fantastic.
I can't find many suitable photos, in everything taken this year I'm drunk, but in these ones it's harder to tell:

That sort-of shows the length of my hair, it's about half-way down my back... I'll get round to taking a better one soon! (I've been thinking that since I first saw this site though.)
Oh – the hair care bit...
I tried using water only for a while, but I never really got the hang of it. Then I went paintballing and had to use shampoo to get the paint out, so I went back to using shampoo and conditioner: in theory, every other day, but I'm a bit erratic when I'm short of time in the mornings. I used to have a really powerful shower, and I'd wash my hair in cold water, but since moving house my shower has been rubbish and I started using hot water. I noticed split ends for the first time ever a couple of weeks ago though, so I think I'll go back to cold water – but maybe the split ends are just be related to the length (I haven't changed shampoo).
Some people (mostly girls) have asked if I use straighteners. I'm not really sure what they are, but I don't. I don't use a hair dryer either.

Looks great. I think that nurse had to be just poking fun at you. Even in the pics you can see razor stubble. No mistaking you for a girl.
Outstanding progress only for 30 months! I love the colour, the straightness with a few tiny waves visible or maybe just because of your shirt? It really looks amazing! =}
And the straighteners are apparently devices that straighten your hair. Actually, I'm asked the same thing too especialyl after I shower because my hair gets extremely straight then. We just have straight hair lol, can't they get it?

Welcome to our community, I hope you join. You have AWESOME hair, it looks in wonderful condition and grows FAST! It's always great to be blessed with straight hair, as it the easiest to care for and easist to grow super long. I was wondering if you have a final goal?

Thanks! Having it long enough that it stays behind my shoulders and doesn't fall into my face was my previous goal. I don't have another length in mind though -- I'm just seeing how long it will get :)
