Wow, I didn't think I'd make it this far.
I haven't been keeping an exact record of the day but sometime in March 2005 I cut my hair short.
Here's a pic of me in August 2005, 4-5 months later. I have no pics of it really short in March 2005.
At 1 year, March 2006
And Tonight, at 2 years!
I am happy with the length, there is some unevenness as you can see due to the different layers. I have been considering a blunt cut to achieve an all one length look, but not for at least another 6 months . I think if I do it now the loss of length will be too much.
A question for anyone else in Australia, what is a good "non cone" shampoo and conditioner you can buy here? I was happy with Garnier Fructus shampoo and conditioner for the last year or so, but now I find it's leaving my hair way too greasy especially on top. I have tried using Pears Clarifying shampoo which clears up the greasiness but then if I don't condition it seems very dry and frizzy afterwards. Problem is if I condition the greasiness comes back!
My normal washing routine is every 4 days, wash with shampoo
then condition, concentrating the conditioner on the ends and keeping the conditioner away from the scalp as much as possible to help reduce build up there. I rinse with cool water till the conditioner is out. Then I let it air dry, and detangle with a wide tooth comb afterwards. Non wash days I start the day by detangling from the ends, then brushing then wearing a ponytail all day. When I come home I detangle, and brush again which should mean the natural oils are being evenly distributed from the top of my head all the way through. But it still ends up greasy looking on top especially even after the first day. This didn't used to happen......
Any advice appreciated!
Matt
BTW I'm posting this on both boards, so if this looks familiar you're not seeing things...
First, congratulations on this amazing 2 year progress! Your hais is really thick and looks superb! Yeah, I think you've made a better decision by waiting another 6 months for an all-one-length cut (besides your ends look incredible!).
The oil problem... I wish I could help you but I don't know how cuz I have the same problem. I wash every other day though cuz even on the 2nd day my hair is incredibly oily. I've tried reducing shampoo it won't help, it makes it worse! I think you're doing right by putting conditioner only on the ends, that's I started to do as well and it looks better. Once in 4 days doesn't seem harsh on the scalp so it shouldn't be producing much oil because of that.
Still, your hair looks great and for 2 years with wavy/curly hair like yours it's fantastic! GROW FREELY! :D
Really cool hair, your routine sounds good and it's obviously working, since your hair looks awesome in that last picture.
Keep it growing!

Hi Matt,
I have to say your hair looks awesome the way it is, thick, healthy and full of shine, I can tell you take excellent care of it. I would suggest not to cut at all, the hair looks perfectly healthy right to the ends and cutting would serve no useful purpose at all. As you say, the best thing is to grow another 6 months before deciding, but even then, I don't think trimming is the way to go.
Keep it growing,
David
Your hair looks great, and thanks for posting your routine. I've been having a problem with dandruff/build up I'm gonna try not getting it on the scalp and washing out with cold water.
Good progress for two years. I like the back view picture a lot, much waviness! I like that.
How long was your hair before it was cut?
I think you're right to wait, especially if some of the layers don't reach your shoulders yet. Keep it growing (even if you decide to trim)!
