From totally bald on july 21st 2006. I took some pics with and without the flash, it changes the way hair looks totally.
Also a question. I have thick wavy/curly hair and the first time I grew my hair out I used to wash it every single day with shampoo, then blow dry it with heat. WORST THING ANYONE COULD POSSIBLY DO. But yea I didnt know that then. This time Ive been only washing it once or twice a week using shampoo. And when I do take a shower its with water and conditioner.
Well last week I went 10 days without using shampoo on it, when I showered I only used water and conditioner. When I finally did shampoo it, fully it dried and ever since I've been getting some bad dandruff. Anything I scratch my scalp a shower of flakes comes down. Is this directly caused by shampoo?
Looks good.I have been growing 8 months also no pics yet as i want to wait till 1 year mark then i believe is when the real growing happens.I like the picture with your hair slick back as thats what i do with mine during this akwar phase. What do you use to slick it back?
I'm always blown away by your hair's thickness, helgast. It's going to be even better than the last time you grew it out. I'm not sure why you'd be getting flakes from only shampooing after 10 days but you might want to try an ACV rinse. They always seem to settle my scalp down.
The waves are great, and I like the photos with the LotR poster in the background. One longhair and a future longhair!
Keep it growing!

Everything is looking GREAT there, Helgast! You are blessed with really thick hair that will be AWESOME when super long. And your hair grows fast, great progress from near bald in 8 months.
Keep up the good work,
David
Looks great, Helgast! I've been having dandruff problems a lot lately, too. Not sure if it's the weather or what, but it's getting annoying. I just shampooed for the first time in a week, so who knows. Oh well, keep up the awesome growth!

I have been having exactly the same problem. The build-up is caused, as far as I can work out, by the accumulation of conditioner which water cant always rinse out. You need to use an anti-dandruff shampoo about once a week. Dont let this conditon last for too long as eventually the buildup of flakes will affect the quality of your hair growth: I took three months to deal with it and regretted it (it actually caused hair loss). Rinsing your hair VERY thoroughly after each application of conditioner when you dont use shampoo will help also, of course.
Helgast, your hair is showing great progress. It's been fun to watch you pass through your teen years. Keep it growin' and flowin'.

It's apparent from your pics that you are really taking care of your hair this time and it looks very healthy. It will really make a difference a year from now.
Nice little animation you made. Shows the progress really good!
Sorry I can't help you, as I've had dandruff with or without shampoo. Keeping the area that is causing the dandruff moisturised with conditioner helped me tone the dandruff down a bit.
Your hair is looking good. Sometimes I think about cutting mine to regrow it because of all the mistakes I made during my first 1 1/2 years of growth, but I can't see myself actually doing it in the near future. Keep it growing!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think im not going to let the shampoo reach to my scalp anymore when I use it. Im gonna try out just using it on the length and tips. Wash out then condition... I find that actually conidtioning to the scalp has been better but Ive heard that this may actually be the cause of buildup. Then just wash it all out using cold water.
Cool, great progress. Everything seems to go just fine. The thickness is so apparent even for only 8 months of growth and it will be amazing after it gets some length! Happy growing!
Yeah, looking great, you have a good thick head of hair there, its gonna look great when its mid back!
