hi folks,
I've been in a "seek & destroy" kinda mood lately..I've been looking for split-ends and snipping them off whenever I'm bored.
I was just wondering if it's ok to use a nail clipper for this or are they too dull?also,I've been having some trouble finding scissors that are "hair-specific" or "Razor sharp" or whatever they call them..where are they sold?
-Jacob
Hi Jacob,
I don't know about nail clippers, I would be a bit worried that they would be too dull, and using dull scissors or clippers to cut hair could cause more damage.
The best palce to find hair specific scissors is in your plain old Wal-Mart! They are sold in the same section where you can find hair ties, etc., since they are in the hair section, I assume they are sharp (they tend to be small in size, with thin blades). Sharpness is paramount when doing seek and destroy, I have been contemplating the same for my hair but am a little hesitant right now.
Hope this helps,
Dave
I haven't seen you over at the LHC lately, you seem to be stuck at 27 posts forever. The support over there is AWESOME! (I got a VERY pleasant surprise when I checked in and saw one of the threads started last Saturday, I'll leave it at that!)
Dave
Sounds fun there David
Axel
Could you give me the Thread again and ill have another go at joining there ok
Axel
Hi Axel,
Here's the link
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/index.php
You can always browse there without joining, but it is very easy to join, you will need to register to do so. There are some restrictions on new members, but after 25 posts, some of these restrictions are removed. After 100 posts and 60 days, you have FULL access to everything.
The "fun" thread I was referring to is in "the Mane Forum", it's probably 3 or 4 pages into that now. (There are a LOT of members, and a LOT of posts are made everyday)
David
Thanks David I got this message when trying to registering there

Hi Axel,
Sorry to hear about that. They pretty well insist on private email addresses, they don't like things like yahoo, hotmail, etc.
I think the reason for their insistence on private email addresses is that everything has to be properly validated. They had a serious hacking incident a few months back and I am sure they have more rigid security system in place now.
David
Oh Well never mind I dont have one anyway so I cant give them what I dont have
Axel
Now, folks, you see why we don't make people register to participate at MLHH.
If a site has problems with hackers, spammers, and trolls, that is what the site's moderation and technical crews are for.
Bill
Oh
Yeah Bill to bad the site not run like this one it would be so much better if it was run like this one, instead of requesting private e-mail address Ive lost interested in the site due to that fact alone !
Axel
A group's lifeblood is its new members. We want to do NOTHING to get in the way of a new guy who wants to post.
You also don't have to post a hundred times here to get access to everything. We have found setting trust figures in the single digit range is good enough.
Our general philosophy has been to be the least restrictive as possible to achieve the isolation from trolls, etc., that is needed. Once that isolation is achieved, any further restraints just harass your users, and those are the last people in the world we want to harass. They are the whole reason the site is here.
Bill
Interesting info in here, thats great to hear. Better get posting more :)
I feel responsible since I told you free email should work so I checked with a mod at LHC and he says it is doable so I mailed you his suggestion.

Axel
hi Dave,
no wonder I couldn't find those scissors,I was looking in the scissors section..didn't occur to me to look in the hair section!!*duh*
thanks!!^_^
PS.to answer your question...I've dropped a couple of posts at LHC yesterday..have a look at 'em!! ^_^
Hi Jacob!
I saw your posts over at the LHC, thanks for the comments. I answered the question you asked in the Glennagirl thread, BTW, and also had a comment about biotin in your other thread. I see you're up early this morning, lol!
Dave
Yeah, I'd second David on this. I think they'd be too dull. I've seen hair-specific scissors at drug stores for less than $10 (US). I assume that if you don't do anything with them besides cut hair that they'll last for a long time, so it seems like a good investment. I plan on getting a pair once I start noticing split ends.

Hi Jacob,
I do the same as you, but I use nail scissors. Y'know those tiny scissors you can get. I'm not sure if its true but the way i see it is, if the scissors are designed for cutting nails they will cut one hair at a time as they are made from the same stuff.
