How long should i let my hair grow before getting my first trim?
Hello there Matt!
I've gorwn my hair for 24 months (2 years) before I got my first trim. I'm at 30 months now and I'm holding on myself not to trim it again untill September. Now, when I trimmed my hair back in last September, my ends were awfull... I mean, those ends had been my short hair, so they were really bad. The trim helped a lot and did wonders for my hair. Now, after 6 months, my ends are split again, but they are really soft and blund, so I guess I'll keep holding on untill the 3rd year.
I suggest you don't touch your hair untill you hit the 2 year mark. After that, you should decide based on the condition of your hair, I mean, if your hair never splits, it wouldn't make sense to trim it ;)
Good luck and happy growing!
I personally cannot stand when my hair does not have neat ends. That's just part of the growing out process. As soon as it's long though, I cannot wait to trim it and make it look nice.
No need to really worry all that much. Once your hair becomes really long it WILL look nice all by itself and all you might want at that point to do is just a mere dusting trim. Follow the advice of Joao and grrr.
Good luck to you in the growing-out process.
Well, I think it all depends on whether you have damage or not. If you don't find any splits as time passes, I don't see the need for a trim unless you want to even hair (everyone has a different view of that). I've heard that if the damage is minor, then you should wait just a little bit to see if it will get worse and then trim it. But don't wait too long! Still, I doubt anyone would need serious trims before 1 year of growth unless they treat their hair badly or it's simply too fragile.
