Here is my story for the day.
I was painting a trailer with oil based metal paint today.
I leaned over and got a bunch of paint in my hair. I thought for sure I'd have to use paint thinner or something to clean it out. It was oil based paint, not latex. Well a few hours later I took a shower and washed my hair and the paint all came out, easily.
Looks like hair is hard to paint.
I usually use a pony tail when I'm doing stuff like that, but for some reason I didn't today.

All the longhaired painters I've ever known, --- whether a close friend (interestingly, I have one who is also named David), acquaintance, or just in observation --- have all worn painters hats, as well as tied their hair back, in order to best protect it. I do the same whenever I garden (I do part-time maintenance gardening and landscaping jobs), --- or at the very least, securely tie my hair back and/or up in a bun.
I'm glad your story of the day ended so well, in spite of your hair getting paint in it! But, in the future, I don't recommend that anyone take the risk of wearing their hair loose to a job like that... not worth the risk & agony of having to cut it off, in case things DON'T work out so well...

...and on the same topic.....be ever so careful when working around any rotating equipment, open flames, etc. and secure your hair well. I work around mining and drilling equipment...A well secured tail and sweatband are a must. You don't need to look pretty on the job....paint, oil, grease could be the least of your problems should a piece of heavy equipment grab you....
