what is the best food to eat to keep ur hair healthy and reduce fall out and stuff like that?
Hi Chris,
Here are some books that have recently been helpful to me to learn about nutrition. My hair is in much better condition since I've been getting enough protein, eating frequent small meals, and drinking lots of water all day.
"Prostate Health in 90 Days" by Larry Clapp. This guy used a wide range of natural medicine approaches to heal himself of prostate cancer. Some of the book goes too far into new agey stuff for me, but the section on getting one's colon cleaned out and switching to a healthier diet makes a lot of sense and worked well for me. Key point: for a week, several times a day drink a tall glass of water into which you've mixed some lemon juice, some maple syrup, a pinch of cayanne pepper, and a spoonful of bentonine gel (from any health food store). Man, this really cleans the pipes and makes the digestion improve!
"Body for Life" by Bill Phillips, and other "high intensity" exercise info from a variety of sources. Step by step instructions about nutrition, exercise, rest, and motivation. If I can stick with the program than I should be able to replace the "spare tire" with some solid muscle by Thanksgiving! Key points: Get some aerobic exercise (brisk walking is fine for a start) 20 minutes before breakfast, 3x/week; do brief, intense, but perfect-form and very slow exercise the other three days a week, one set to failure. Eat six small meals a day with a balance of protein and complex carbohydrates. Drink lots of water throughout the day.
"Eat right for your type" by D'Adamo. Key point: each human blood type (A, B, AB, or O) came about at a different period in human evolution when a different kind of food was available. Blood type affects the chemistry of the digestive system and a different range of foods are best for each type. This is why some people do well on e.g. high protein diets while others don't.
"The Zone" by Barry Sears. Key point: Plan your frequent small meals of protein and complex carbohydrate to make sure you have plenty of energy through the day, instead of getting a sugar high then a crash.
"The Sugar Blues" (forget the author). Key point: refined sugar is really, really bad for you!
"Totally Fit Living" by Robert Kronemeyer. Again a mix of stuff that makes sense and stuff that seems really new agey, take what you like from it.
Happy eating!
- Chris
