I see so many posts asking when should i get a trim? How often should i wash my hair, etc etc.
These questions have obviousy answers which is what annoys me !!
You should get a trim only when you either have reached goal length and want to trim into style, or when the damage is sufficient enough to warrant it.
With hair washing, i wash my hair every day with shampoo and conditioner.
Shampoo is the best way to get rid of dirt from the hair and conditioner very effect for putting lost moisture back.
There isn't much point for all of these different mythical washes like vinegar and lemon, just wash it when it needs it with shampoo and conditioner and your hair will be great!
Also, if you wash your hair with just water, the water will not pick up dirt all that well and your hair will end up being quite greasy even after a wash.
Hope this post helps people understanding it abit more.
DaPs.
You're right that many people are asking about washing hair but it's different for everyone. I don't quite agree with you about the washings every day, it's different for everyone. Some people's hair can get way too dry if they shampoo everyday. Also, others may reject shampoo at all. So, one should experiment before deciding what works with his hair type.
I personally have very oily hair and still shampoo & condition every other day because I don't want to dry it and the oil isn't so much to cause damage (cuz that could be unhealthy too). I'm scared that if I start shampooing every day it will make my scalp produce even more oil, I know people like that.
I have to agree with the water thing. Nobody I've met in the "real world" used only water on their hair--sooner or later, it just doesn't look good. How much trouble is it to put frickin shampoo in your hair? I mean really.
You should wash it when it gets dirty enough. For me every day because i like to be extra clean.
Obviously choose the right shampoo for you own hair!
If only life was that simple eh?
It's not quite that simple..especially for curly-heads like myself =)
As your hair gets longer, your routine will change. When my hair was at your length, I shampooed it everyday, but now every three days works better for me (I still use conditioner everyday though). For most people, as their hair length increases, they need to decrease their frequency of shampooing. It comes to a point when the artificial moisture provided by conditioner just isn't enough to keep your hair looking good, and you need to have the added assistance of some natural oils. If I shampooed everyday now, my hair would look horrible. =P
Actually, the answers aren't all that obvious.
Shampoo use frequency depends on how much oil your scalp produces. And there are many hair myths out there that a LOT of people believe (Such as trims making your hair grow faster) that some people want cleared up.
After all, that's what this board is for, asking questions and recieving answers and support.
