Hey guys...and gals...
As some of you know, I cut my hair in September 2005 to rave reviews to a lot of people. I did think it actually made me look better, but it was only through the magic of my stylist...who's hair was kinda long, incidentally.
He was in tune to what I wanted with my hair...a rare phenomenon with guys...and I looked forward to growing it out again and seeing what his finishing touches would do.
Unfortunately, he moved to Florida and I was stuck with people who just wanted to cut hair. So I decided to start growing it back out. Not only because of that...but because I missed it.
So here's a link to a couple of pics of my progress since June of last year:

I look forward to participating in the forums again. It's such a wonderful site and it's great that everyone's worked so hard to keep it alive!
Take care and keep it growin', y'all!
Brett

Hi Brett,
I don't think I've had a chance to say hi before since I only joined the hyperboard last fall but I just wanted a chance to say a heartfelt hello and welcome back! Since I joined I have found this to be the absolute BEST site on the internet, there is no better one out there.
Your hair looks SUPER, I am so glad you are growing it back. It appears straight, shiny, and in GREAT condition. It appears straighter than in your avatar picture. I was wondering how long you hope to grow it, you have the type of hair that would be awesome at waist length or longer.
Keep it growing,
David
Hi David,
Thanx for the kind words...and yes, my hair is straighter than my old avatar because I'm actually using a straightener. I know, I know...it's really bad for your hair. But before you judge, you must know something about my hair. My hair has always been dry and kinda unmanageable despite using different shampoos, conditioners, not shampooing, air drying, etc. The texture of my hair just never responds to any of that...so I noticed one of my sisters uses a straightening iron for her hair and it looks great. So I figured, why not?
Anyhow...I'm pleased with it and if it is much more manageable now. Plus I like the way it looks.
As far as length...on my last journey, I was in for the long haul...only to discover my terminal length is at mid-back. That's another reason why I cut it...there was no further progress to be made...so I started from scratch again. Half the fun is the journey IMHO!
Thanx for the kind words and keep it growin', y'all
Brett
Brett;
....happy to see y'all back !
Walter
Welcome back (even though I wasn't here when you left)!!! It's great that you're growing it again, and it looks really good so far. Best of luck, and keep it growing!

Welcome Brett: I am glad you are back and regrowing your hair. I remember, fondly, your pictures of roadtrips...and, I think, having one of the first videos on this site. Do you still have an active homepage? I must agree with you with enjoying the journey (to long hair) rather than the destination. I have cut my hair, after nearly reaching terminal growth twice and now as my third journey ends...will be cutting my hair short again this summer. You can reach me via email at beachbum90742@yahoo.com...would enjoy hearing from you.
From my late teens to mid 20s, there was a local barber named
Micky, I never learned his last name. I think Micky might have been a nickname. He had an ability that seemed to be rare: to actually do what I said.
In those days, I favored a slight mullet. Micky knew how to cut a fairly short cut that, after a month or two, would grow out to something I liked. Then for another couple months it would grow longer and I'd like it even more until my parents got on my case. Then it was back to Micky for another.
Truth was, of course, I didn't really want to go; but Micky made it bearable. One day I went in and discovered he'd picked up and moved to go into some business with friends in another state. No more Micky. I had a succession of lousy cuts until I found a situation where I could grow it long.
I've come to look back on those years as a period of relative peace between myself and the hair-cutting world, and I think of them as "the Micky years".
Great story Steve...Mine will be known as the "James years." Such a shame he left.
Take care,
Brett
Good to have you back in the game Brett!
Looking good - keep 'r a-growin!
