Hey Guys:
I am close to reaching the one year point with my hair growth and have some questions. The first one is: Do you have to trim the back so it is even with the front? My hairdresser wants to do this, but i say why cut the back it's just going to take it longer to reach my shoulders. The second question is: My hair type is extremely wavy with a bit of a natural curl and the back is just awful! It's doing this weird thing where it will separate into 4 different sections of hair, I don't think this has anything to do with my hair type, and it's starting to scare me if my hair will be like this even when it's fully grown. Lastly how much longer is this going to take!?(all one length to my shoulders) My front/sides are down to my chin when straightened and the back is at the very bottom of my neck. Thanks in advance to those who who reply.

Carlos,
I would wait until the front reaches my shoulders, and the trim the back and front so that they are the same lenght. If this is the look that you are going for. I did this with my own hair. I had the back and sides down to my shoulders, but I had bangs in the front.(It was early 90's!) I then decided to grow the bangs out.
Good Luck,
Darrin
Patience. Patience, my boy. All good things take time.
You're at the point I was several months ago. That's when I decided to cut the back to have it the same length all the way around. I hated having the back longer than the front. I too want shoulder length hair but if I left the back and waited for the front to reach my shoulders, the back would be several inches past my shoulders and I didn't want it that long. I also didn't want it to look like I had a mullet. It's much more enjoyable to grow out your hair once you have it all the same length around. I would say wait about a few more months, just to let the front get a longer, and then get it cut all the way around. Mine was a little past my chin in the front and I wished it was a little longer before I had gotten it cut. I think this look is much better than when it's longer in back. :)
