I'm not sure how many of you have ever taken the Myers-Briggs psychological profile test, but we just had a program about it here in my residence hall. This stuff has always interested me, so naturally I looked this up a few weeks ago, took the test online, yada yada, and found my psychological type.
Now, for those of you who don't know, there are 16 possible types, each with its own characteristics and thought process. What I'm interested in seeing is if there's a general trend in psychological type and wanting long hair.
To get started, I will just say that I am mostly an INTJ.
Here is the test (free): http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp
And descriptions of each type:
http://www.personalitypage.com/high-level.html
I don't really have much of a hypothesis with this, but it might be kind of neat to see if there is a trend.
Best of luck! =D
-James
Greetings from another INTJ. I've taken the test before, and that's what I typically come up as, but I've moved from being a strong T to a much more neutral one (only 1 percent lean in that direction). I'm getting soft or something, LOL!

Hi, James. That quiz blew me away. I loved it. My type was a INFJ.
INFJ on this test, the rarest type. I vary a little, though, on these types of test.
The one thing that personality tests show is that most longhairs test as introverts.

Sounds about right.
I've taken it before, and I scored ISTJ. This time, like you, I'm an INTJ. My strongest trait is introversion; my second strongest is thinking.
Tracy
I find the introverted part that people are coming up with, counterintuitive, or paradoxical.
I assumed that people with extremely long hair, having to deal with being stared at, would not be introverted.
Interesting! I've taken this before, but I don't remember what I was at that time.
This time I'm an ISFJ.
I took it at one of my classes at UOP. I forgot what it was though...
I guess I break the trend... I'm ENFP.

It looks like I'm an introvert that thinks about a lot of stuff. This may explain why I've spent the last 18 years in the cab of a truck; alone...
Great test and pretty much on the money.
You are:
very expressed introvert
slightly expressed sensing personality
distinctively expressed thinking personality
moderately expressed judging personality
Jeffrey.
pretty much nailed it......the detailed descriptions lead to "scientist", which I am. In "other INTJ's", under fictional characters Gandalf the Grey was listed, which is an honor!!
INFP for me. The most prominent trend so far seems to be introvert, which is interesting, and a little surprising.
I remember taking this test a few months back and scoring as an INTJ.
INTJ n/t
Cool thread, James.
I remember taking the test around 15-20 years ago at a stress management course in my workplace and I think I got ISFJ. (not 100% positive if it was ISFJ or INFJ, but think it was ISFJ)
David
Ive taken many forms of this test and I always come up as a INFP.
INTJ
89 12 25 33
very expressed introvert
slightly expressed intuitive personality
moderately expressed thinking personality
moderately expressed judging personality
I wasn't expecting the results so far to be so concise. But maybe there is something to most of us being introverts, especially in the INFJ/INTJ range. Perhaps it has to do with the thought that we really don't care what society thinks...
ISTP
# moderately expressed introvert
# slightly expressed sensing personality
# slightly expressed thinking personality
# slightly expressed perceiving personality
Sounds about right.
I don't claim to know what all those numbers mean. My results were: INTP 44 50 25 33
On many questions I was in the middle between yes and no. On many others, it would be conditional, depending on circumstances. The test really should have 5 different boxes to check:
definitely yes
more often yes
equally, sometimes yes, sometimes no
more often no
definitely no
This would make the test much more accurate for me.
Absalom
Aww, it looks like I broke the trend here :(
I also turned out to be extrovert. I don't think being sociable means you care what others think. I don't give a damn if others will like me or not but still love to talk to people :)
You are:

Spot on.

ESFJ for me, which means:
slightly expressed extravert
slightly expressed sensing personality
distinctively expressed feeling personality
moderately expressed judging personality
If only I knew what it all meant LOL.

I took all kinds of tests like this in my youth. It's amazing you can get any kind of meaningful results out of such a thing. After all, the brain is still the most complex computer on earth. Even a hunk-of-junk PC would have more numbers to describe it than 4, and all of them would be very important to how it performs.
