A few days ago, I asked what everyone here thought about me getting a trim. I've decided to go for a trim next week. I would have gone today, but the lady I want is off until next week but it should be worth the wait. It's at a budget priced family salon, but my mother said she went there a while ago and was really pleased with one lady there who's quite experienced and professional.
The charge only $12.95 for a trim. The upscale, downtown hair salon I went to 24 months ago was excellent, but they now charge $40, plus tax, plus tip. Probably wouldn't be able to leave without dropping at least $50 and it may not be any better than what the older lady at the family hair salon could do (I hope...) :P
I'm happy for your choice! A trim would fix any minor damage and will make brushing easier. DOn't worry, as long that lady is told how much to cut, you won't lose length ;)
Of course, you made the right decision. Why would you give so much money for a trim? I mean she won't cut you with magical scissors that will make your hair grow faster lol. Trims are for getting rid of damage (evening up is easy, you can alsways do it, it's not so important)
Wish you luck and post an update after you trim! :D
Yes, I think it's a good choice. Considering I haven't had a trim for about two years, it's about time. Not that I want to lose ANY length, but after time, some hair is bound to get damaged, no matter how careful I am. Before any hair meets scissors, I will make sure to reinforce that I only want a minor trim. Plus, she must be good if my mother was happy with her - she's a tough critic! Plus, the savings in cost is good too. Once the trim is done, I'll take some new pictures to show how it turned out.
In your case with ever so many months of long hair growth behind you I think your decision is a wise one.
But just a word of caution: you mentioned a Salon that you had been to before a couple of years ago who did the job and did it "right!" Guess I am just a bit too cautious, but I prize my long hair very much and will not take chances with it. If the "cost" is the big factor.........and yet I KNEW where the last trim was done right, I would hold off and save up money so as to return to the "Upscale place" where it is known for sure all will be ok. No doubt your mothers place is very fine indeed........but just what if?
In any event, my best to you with the trim.
Yes, I know what you mean... I could go back to the upscale salon and get the same guy to trim my hair again. For sure it would be good... and it might be worth the piece of mind. If my mother's place cut off too much, no amount of money would put my hair back (I've never been there, but my mother's happy with the lady there, my mother has short hair...)
I've got the weekend to think about it. Either way, I will go for a trim... this is why it's good not to rush into making decisions! Thanks for the suggestion Justin.
And here it is:
"but my mother's happy with the lady there, my mother has short hair...)"
Yikes, if your mother says her place is good and she has short hair herself, it most likely would not be the place to go for yourself.
Glad that you are giving much thought to this. My best to you in your final decision.
