Ive been reading a few things about mixing brown sugar with water, drop of lemon juice maybe? As a home made shampoo. Has anyone tried something like this?
Has anyone here made there own shampoo and use nothing but that?
Cheers

When you can buy a very good shampoo for £3-4 pounds from the shop, making it just doesn't make much sense. Unless your doing it for fun a couple of times.
I would say just stick with good shampoo from the shop :P
I'm no expert; I merely go with what I read in authoritative publications, so all I can give is my hunch: it would either make your hair sticky (brown sugar) or turn it white (lemon juice). On the other hand, it might taste good. : )
All shampoo consist of the following ingredients:
a cleaner: such as sodium laureth sulphate or ammonium laureth sulphate. this gives the soapy feeling and its what cleans your hair. So you can't avoid these 2.
a moisturizer: it prevents the cleaner from drying out your hair, common ingredients include dimethecone, or jojoba oil is acceptable as well.
a preservative: it prevents the sampoo from going bad on the shelf or your bathroom, common ingredients could be DMDM Hydrotonin, or sodium benzoate could be used....
Then there are misc. ingredients like vit E or Zinc Pyridone for dandruff shampoos, and a whole lot of other stuff like colorings. There are a long list of ingredient in shampoo for a reason!
There are shops in Taiwan that sells chemicals for homemade shampoo and you must have a laureth sulphate! I discovered that its not worth it because I can buy a bottle of mane and tails for slightly more than a bottle of laureth sulphate. Sometimes even cheaper when bought in larger amount or on special...
My mother looked into making her own shampoo and it's not a simple thing. As I recall her hair was dry and frizzy I'm not sure what all was in it but it was bad. I use Pantene and I tried Wal-marts version of it and found the ingredients to be virtually the same but I feel pantenes conditioner is better, at leats on my hair. So I agree with Tai Fu, Rob, and DaPs, you may as well stick with whats there but feel free to play with it and let us know how it turns out.
