I'm 18 and I always wanted to grow my hair out, so for about 4 months now i havent cut my hair. I hair very straight hair so for now i just part it in the front.. but in the back it keeps curling around. I don't know if i should get another trim like i did before or what? right now i just feel strange because i cant really do anything with it. Also how long does it normall take for someone my age to grow shoulder length?
thnx
I hear you, I am in the same predicament
I was in the same predicament as you and am glad as hell that I decided to grow it out when I did (I am 18 now), although people still take the piss cause I was the only lad in my school to have long(ish) hair, i.e. almost shoulder length at the back and about nose length around the front, but every lad in my school has the same boring, short, spikey or practically bald hairstyle and it was beginning to piss me off. Also that style looked crap on me.
But it didn't take me 2 years to get as far as you want to get now. I haven't even been growing mine out for a year yet and it is easily long enough to be happy with. And also, the curls you're getting now at the back, I got too. My advice is to get it trimmed, but only right at the very back at the bottom, and keep trimming it so the back is about level with your mouth. Don't cut the sides or top. It shouldn't take long before all the hair is the same length at the back and sides and then your wait will have been worth while!
Good luck my friend!
P.S: You really haven't got that long left to wait. Trust me and Persevere!
>>For me there seemed to be over a year of the awkward stage, but it might have been much shorter except my family kept strongarming me into cutting the front(from end of nose to above eyes, more than once).
Often I had the front under a cap, which may not be great for the scalp; then there's just tying the top like Liam Neeson in Episode 1, but you might have to tie it so high it doesn't look too great.
Sometimes I put sunglasses on my head to hold it up.
Actually, I was in a hateful, angry phase when I started, and I often just let it hang over my eyes, which was of course, uncomfortable and troublesome.
Anyway, I had impressive, shoulder length and beyond hair in less than two years, I think.
