Justin:
I want to thank you for the image that you made of me. I saved it and will soon print out a copy and frame it. You certainly have talent. Every time I see it I think of good times. Actually, I think about putting on some Jimi Hendrix and burning one, but...that's just me.
BTW, how is the beard coming along? Mine is getting very thick, although I still add a little colour. Shhhh...don't tell anyone. LOL...
Thanks again.
Jeffrey.

Hi Jeffrey,
I have to agree Justin is very talented with this. Also, I wanted to thank you for doing your software manipultion of my avatar in your earlier post, I don't know if you saw my thank you reply, as the thread has scrolled down the board. How did you save the image, btw? Justin did a similar colouration of the image you did of my avatar and I would like to save it. I'm not sute how to save a copy of an image posted to the board. I asked Justin, and he sould not remember how to save the image.
If you remember how you saved it, I would appreciate it, thanks!
David
(by the way, you signed your post with Justin's name, lol!)
You should be able to save it just by right clicking the image with your mouse and then selecting "save as" from the small menu. Then you can name it what you want and save it wherever on your computer.
Well, David, remember when I was calling you Dean? I guess this is the way it starts :) BTW, it isn't as bad as when I put my electric bill in the night deposit box at the bank. I wish they had of paid it. Ha!
Anyway, I just right clicked the image and saved it. I really like the image and I think it's sutible for framing.
Well, I better get to bed. (before the symptoms get worse).
Jeffrey.
Oh lol I sure bet you did wish they had paid it for you hahahaha
Justin now Dean its goes on the list please call me Axel though
Axel ( The Tease )
Thanks Jeffrey.
You gave me a good chuckle there about the electric bill in the night deposit box! I saved the image just fine by right clicking it, why didn't I think of the obvious! (My scientist's mind makes me think that things have to be complicated, which in most cases, aren't that way at all)
Hopefully you get WELL rested, I can imagine you had a long week on the road.
David
Hi David
Hope you get it figured-out how to save the image and am glad that you liked it. As in my posting to "Justin-Jeffrey" (LOL) above, here is but yet another colorized photo of the Composer Bela Bartok (1881-1945) taken from an autographed photo dated 1899 when Bartok was 18 years old. (This one was a real nasty to try and do.)
All the best-
Justin~
That's awesome, Justin!
That photo you colourized of Bartok must be real piece of history. Not only is it an old photo, and dates from 1899, but it is autographed as well. I can see how tricky it would be to colourize that. That's cool software you use, I should see if I can find it and try it out, seems like fun, although my artistic abilities are next to nil, lol!
I saved your colourized photo you did of me, btw. Why didn't I think of the obvious thing and right click on it, that worked perfectly! (Sometimes, I think things look more complicated than they really are, must be the scientist's mind trying to make life too complicated or something, lol!) (And a thanks to Jeffrey and Rated R Superstar for pointing out the obvious)
All the best,
David
Oh, I meant posted by Jeffrey. I am a bit tired. And old :)
Jeffrey.
Lol I see whatever Justin lol
Hey Jeffrey
I am glad that you liked that little rendering of your B+W "sketch" as I am that David likes his. All I did spur the moment was fool around a little bit with my "Crayola Crayons" and dashed-off a quickie. Luckskind is the REAL Artist around here. Reason that this all came about is that rather recently I ordered some software that allows one to turn a B+W photo into colour. As a little hobby I am colouring antique photos as you see above of Composers Johannes Brahms and Johann Strauss photographed in 1883. This is NOT easy to do when working with photos so old............but kind of fun seeing what somebody famous and in the history books may have looked like in colour. It is done the same way Hollywood colorizes old motion pictures that were shot in B+W.
I cheat as well or else someone could play checkers on my face! LOL The beard is doing great and is very thick. I keep at at about four to 5 weeks length which is medium long and what I like the best. Promise I won't tell anyone about you and the colour.
Thank you and David as well for the compliments with the sketches. I am really stunned that you think so highly of them. :-)
All the best-
Justin~
ps: Getting the names mixed-up sounds exactly like something I would do when tired. I sure know where you are coming from on that one.
Could you tell me a little bit more about the software you used? What's it called? Where'd you get it, etc.? lol
I recently found a bunch of old photos in the attic of an old farmhouse we're refurbishing and would love to be able to colorize some of them.
This is one of them in particular...Blew my mind when I saw her hair! It was almost like a "sign". lol
Thanks. =o)

If the picture still doesn't show up, here's a link to a post I made about finding it over on TLHC:

Hi DeeDee
For the fun of it I tried my hand at the photo of one of your ancestors. But, the colours can go in all different directions.
The program is called BlackMagic which can be found on the internet and is offered in 3 versions. I have the "Home Version," but now am thinking of upgrading for even better results. I use my present version for the basic beginning. Then I take it over to another program I have called PhotoStudios for finishing touches. The older the photo, the more difficult. A small one like the above a bit nasty with so little space to work within and I do not know how to make the photo bigger in size than what is presented me. A more recent B+W comes out looking as if it was taken that way. It is really impossible to tell that that it was from a B+W. One thing however, it is yourself that has to do the colouring and try and figure-out which looks the best.
Takes practice and I am still in the beginning stages most likely. You kind of learn as you go along.
This would be great fun for you if you have a scanner and could scan those photos and then try and colourize them. Sometimes the results are quite astonishing.
If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask.
Justin
Photo toned-down to look as if natural colour may have faded through the years.
Hi Justin,
That is simply outstanding! What you have done for DeeDee's ancestor is amazing, you would never know that was originally a black and white image. Assing the frame makes it complete and extra special. Luckskind would be proud of you!
David
"Assing" the frame sounds a tad bit painful.
After I messed up last night I had to point that out :):):)
Jeffrey.

HA! HA! HA! Mea culpa! I apologize! "Adding" should be the word! (The "s" is next to the "d" on the keyboard, that mistake is FAR too easy to make, by the way, wish I had an edit button!) (Hope Justin doesn't get mad at me!)
David
Thanks! Ha Ha Ha Ha ha........Jeff has caught you in a typo I sea. Well, eye make typeos all the tmie mi-self to.
Above is the original photo I had to work with that DeeDee had sent.
Justin~
ps: With much work the tear to the original paper could have been coloured-in that you see in the background on the wall. Trouble is getting just the right colour. Not as EZ as one might think.
Wow! That's absolutely beautiful.
Nice work, Justin.
Jeffrey.
The picture is just beautiful and I really appreciate you taking the time to do that for me! =o)
Thanks for the info as well. I'm going to have to get that software. The home version would probably be good enough for me though, since I'm definitely not a computer guru. lol
I really like the colorized look on old photos. It softens them up a little and makes them a little more interesting to look at. I'm also thinking that if I can make copies of all my old pictures, I can display them and keep the originals in a safe place. I've always heard you should keep old pictures out of light and stuff, so they wouldn't fade any more.
Thanks Again!
