Evenin' Brothers: It's been a BUSY spring for me but I'm on break now and finally getting around to posting an update. My last one was a month and a half ago (18.5mos). I grew a goat and then (as you can see) trimmed it up. I've had this "look" about a month now and really like it. The Mane is pretty Tame these days. I am routinely using jojoba oil after showering when the hair is wet in the morning and really like how it helps manage the frizzies. My ponytail (no pic) is holding together pretty well these days too however I wear it loose most of the time. That's a departure from the last time I grew it out. I feel more comfortable letting it flow then I used to. (perhaps due to all the support here at MLHH) Anyhow, there are SO MANY new members these days and so many Ragin' Manes on display I just thought I'd jump in too. Looking forward to an awesome summer and the approach of my 2 year anniversary come July! Peace - Bruce'ster

nickname. Thanks for the support brother. I started from a buzz cut too. My brother went to the Iraq war and we shaved our heads in your basic manly ritual before he left. Funny, it seems a LOT of us here went to a total shaved head before growing it back. I always wondered why that was. Anyway, 6 months aye? Awesome. Just be patient and keep it growing. My advice (not that you asked) is to have fun with it but don't really worry about it the first year or so. Just RHINO through the awkward phase and put in the time. Before you know it you'll start to hit those first few milestones and then each month or so brings bigger changes and then there's no looking (or turning) back! It's like looking in the rear view mirror and watching your short hair days getting smaller and smaller. This board is great. It has encouraged me too. Whats up, Bruce'ster. Man, The mane is looking fantastic. I see a noticable difference in length and !VOLUME!. I also like how the facial hair looks on you. I especially like the sideburns! Im glad you never gave in and cut it. Once you make it to the 2 year mark, You will have accomplished something many haven't been able to. Congrats to you brother! That shot from the back really shows how thick and volumious (is that a word?) it is. My students were freaking when I cut my stash like that! I was just thinking, well, it's about time for an update from Bruce! I have to say it's a fantastic update too. Your hair is looking awesome these days, my friend, so THICK and healthy, and the colour is A-one as well! I would DIE to have hair that thick, you are so lucky! Your hair sems to be growing at a pretty good clip as well, seems to have grown a lot in the 1 1/2 months since your last update. Do you have a final goal?

Hey Randy - Very funny! Thanks for the support. I started graying at around 25 so I'm pretty used to that "graceful" process now at 51! I'm using the combo for kung fu class since that's a little cooler (or any time I need more comfort). Each month a few more strands will fit...
Amazing how time just seems to pass. It's almost easier since I've been so busy lately. Another month down, another half-inch of hair.
I may not be remembering this correctly, but you're a teacher right? What do you teach? I'm something of an eternal student myself. I have a B/A in English and Japanese Studies, and I'm back at the local community college taking science classes now (animal biology at the moment).

Hi Mouse: I agree, each month we're that much closer to our goal and when you're busy and don't think about it as much time seems to go by faster. I remember when I had short hair and if I went a month between haircuts it would be really "shaggy." That "shagginess" was about a half inch of hair, multiplied by the square footage of my head!!! Ha Ha. Time does move right along and the hair follows but...even though I want long(er) hair I want to enjoy every month and year of my life cause you just never know how much we all get! Anyway, yes I'm a teacher...5th grade...Science/Social Studies. Don't know any Japanese or kung fu but I take Yoga classes (in English lol)I have always been interested in Akido and may try it someday. C-ya. Bruce'ster

looks great. It is quite thick and full. You are a good example that one should not let age be a deterrent to growing long hair. (I am 54 years old and have hair over 3 feet long.) Anyway, it is only going to look better with added length. Happy growing.

What a great feeling tonight (and always) to get so much positive attention!Yeah, I'm 51, and my hair was about a foot long when I cut it at 49 (instant regrets). I thought, crap, if I grow it out I'll be 52 before it's that long again...that's too old. Well newsflash, I'll be 52 anyway so why not grow it again. I'm GLAD I did. In fact I've noticed several other older guys around my home my age with long manes. It's kind of like a small fraternity within a fraternity, if you get my drift. Anyway - thanks again and hopefully 3 feet is within my range someday. Sing the Mountains for me. (J. Muir)

Hey Neil: Glad you liked that expression. It just came to me. (and it rhymes kinda) Anyway, My goal is to grow it as long as possible/terminal. Each month I'm pleased with the progress and the longest it has been was 3 years last time before I cut it. That was barely nipple length in front. Thanks for the positive vibes and keep on ragin'.
