I'm sorry that I didn't get to update last month, but I had some issues I had to work out. Anyway, onto the update:
Bangs finally come down to my chin when straight
I also tried my luck at a ponytail, though it's pretty messy and I can't get all my hair in the tie just yet. Hopefully, that day will come soon.
Compared to 2 months ago:
My hair (though you probably can't tell from the pics) is getting more and more frizzy. A light breeze spells disaster for me, tangling and making my hair look like a mess (bigness, frizziness, messy looking). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to combat this without resorting to hats or hairsprays?
Those pics look great, Brandon! Have you considered oiling your hair before shampooing? That seemed to help cut down on the frizzies for me over the past couple months. Otherwise, maybe a little melting wax or very light (and alcohol-free!) gel could work. My suggestion is the oil, as you can continue to use that as your hair gets longer and longer, and it helps control split ends. Best of luck! =)

Thanks, James. No, I haven't tried oil before, though I might considering I hear alot of users raving about it (Jojoba (sp) or whatever the heck it's called oil, right?). I might have to try it and see if it works for me. However, my hair is naturally oily and becomes frizzy when it comes into contact with even the slightest breeze. I'm not much of a gel/wax user, so I'll skip that. Anyway, I'll have to try that and see if it works. Best luck to you too in the long and drawn out process of growing long hair. ;)
Brandon,
Progress is looking great but you forgot one pic in your update the one with bangs comb down over face shows the length better.
Thanks,
LBOF
Yeah, I know. I was about to get that one, but the battery on my camera died, so I just left my update with that. But don't worry. Next update should have the bangs in the face. Thanks for the continued emcouragment! ;)
Hey Brandon
That hair of yours is REALLY getting to look better and better all the time...........but one can already see that the outcome will be splendid long hair no question. I give you credit for sticking it out.
Hope this will help:
1.Rinse both hands and leave wet.
2. Apply just a tiny amount of gel to the palm of one hand and quickly rub hands together.
3. Smooth over hair (you don't have to press hard) and that may well work for you in keeping the frizzies at bay. Best thing is, the hair does not look like gel is in it.
Best of luck to you in continued long hair growth.
Justin
Hm...I might try the gel suggestion until it's long enough for my tie. Though I'll experiment with it over the weekend, just to make sure it works, and that it doesn't look like crap for school. Anyway, thanks. It hasn't been easy sticking it out, but when I think about how great it will be when it finally gets longer, it really causes me to stick with it. Happy growing. ;)
looks good man.how long was your hair when you begain growing it?im in my 8th month and no wear near your lenth good job
I actually posted a pic in another response (the one with the [PIC] label), so you can see it there. I' not for sure, but I think my longest hair strands were 2 1/2 to 3 inches long. Anyway, thanks. :)
Good stuff man!!!
I remember when my hair was at that length (I think i do. lol) And living in southern Louisiana had me in fits with the frizz. You just have to hold on tight and ride that wave to shore. In due time it will settle down, and the flyaways can always be controlled with an Alice band.

Hm...I tried an Alice Band once when my hair was a bit shorter, and I didn't like the way it looked on me. However, I might give it another try, since these windy days are hell. Hopefully it shouldn't be too much longer until I can fit it all into a ponytail. Anywa, thanks for the comments and advice. ;)
Great work Brandon, your hair is coming on really well.
Why thank you! And from the looks of it, you hair looks like it's coming along quite nicely as well. I love the curls. :)
I think your hair grows pretty fast unless you started from longer than a buzzcut! By the way, your bangs have grown a lot for 2 months even though I've found some people don't notice that. I think the worst growth is between 8 to 12 months cuz then the change is not so noticeable (at least in my opinion) because it covers the face and doesn't make big change. I've discovered that after hair is below the face every cm makes a big change to a person's appearance.
We can both hope for that sooN! Great progress, it also brings out good shine! ;)
That's probably the earliest pic of me after my last haircut. I think a few weeks after I had it done. And if what you're saying is true, I only have a few more months until I look like a longhair! I'm hoping that I'll look it in 6 more months, though it will be a big surprise if its sooner. Anyway, thanks for the encouragment, and I hope your hair reaches its full potential! ;)
Hi Brandon,
Your hair is looking awesome, thick and healthy with lots of shine. It also grows fast, not many guys can claim to have the length you have achieved in only 8 months. Also, congratulations on the tail! You have the type of hair that should look superb when really long, it is relatively straight with just the right amount of wave to give it good body. Do you have a final goal?
All the best,
David
Why thanks, DavidN! Just recently, I've been getting alot of positive comments about my hair length and condition. Even my best friends mom loved my hair, and said she wished she had my hair(a little ackward, but I was flattered). :P
As for goal length, I'm aiming right now at mid to lower back. However, I might go as far as belt length once I reach my first goal. Thanks for your continuous positive support and encouragment! :)
What a noticeable difference from 2 months ago! :-) And with your heavy beard stubble, you must be driving some of your church members crazy. lol Btw, what instrument do you play (I noticed the honor band t-shirt.)
Haha! Yeah, I do get told alot to "Get a haircut! Shave the beard!" However, I am growing back my half-beard thing I had for a while (Clean cut beard under the chin, but no facial hair up the face), so in a few days, I'll shape it up when it's a bit longer. Should drive the congregation up the wall (again). ;)
And yeah, that Honor Band shirt was from one that I attended this past week, actually. And I play the Tenor Sax, for the word. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement!
Your hair is really coming along nicely, Brandon, and congrats on the tail!
Mouse
Thanks alot, Mouse! While I didn't get a chance to post anything on your landmark (lurking, and I had to leave), your first public ponytail looked fantastic! May 2007 have more growth for the both of us! ;)
Hi Brandon,
In response to your hair getting frizzy, it doesn't look like anyone has made the simple suggestion of using conditioner after you shampoo. Perhaps you already do this, and it's not working, I don't know. I'm a gal who has had long hair since 1977, and I constantly get compliments on my hair. I try to use products that aren't tested on animals, and as far as I know, Aussie Mega shampoo and Garnier Fructis conditioner, which is what I use, fits the bill. One thing, though, is that my hair is "normal" and I don't know how the products for oily hair perform. I only condition the ends and partway up. I keep my hair somewhat shorter than I used to, because it's a pain in the butt when it's long and I rarely tie it back, but I want to wish you good luck with your goal!
Why thanks for the suggestions, Gaylene! Yes, actually, I do use conditioner (Garnier Fructis, actually), and it still has a bad tendency to frizz. Those little white dots in my pictures are the "untame" frizzy ends. I might try to switch over to a frizz control product fairly soon (About 2 more uses until I'm out), and see if that helps. And by the way, your hair looks fantastic! It's very shiny and healthy looking! ;)
